I can only imagine how well Airbender would have done if the movie actually been good. Part of me was hoping the movie wouldnt make that much money so Shaymalan wouldnt get a chance of doing the next two films in the series and ruining them as well.

Eclispe cost around 30 million to make and promote. It made 30 mill on its opening day, 24 mill on thursday and another 28 mill friday. Its a hit no matter how you cut it. Deal with it and move on.

I don’t think anyone’s denying it’ll make a lot of money. That’s not the debate here.

Eclipse is sinking like a stone. According to DeadlineHollywoodDaily, it made less on Saturday than Friday. Sorry to upset EW, but it ain’t breaking any more records.

I was dragged to it yesterday and went since I wasn’t paying. No way was I going to pay to see that. No long lines no over crowding. It had about the same amount of people of Airbender frankly. And honestly EW lies in it’s reviews. I know that now. The acting in Airbender is the same as the acting in Twilight, Bad. I am being honest. If they removed the main story of Twilight- the pathetic user girl, and the two idiots chasing after her. They might actually have a pretty decent regular B level movie.

LOL Yeah, but that would mean changing the plot of the book. I read a review where the person said something to the effect of, “There is no way to stay faithful to Meyer’s horrible story and still make a good movie.” Bill Condon’s got his work cut out for him, especially since he’s gonna have to stretch a book with barely any plot into two movies.

    So what else is new?

I think they are being very generous saying the movie is going to gross $200 million. I know it’s a holiday, but I think a lot of people would rather spend their weekend at the beach, enjoying the fireworks. If Twilight makes 200 million, I am going to throw up. How could a movie with horrific actors, bad dialogue and a horrible story premise make thia match? Says a lot of about America, doesn’t it? This is why I wanna movie the hell out of here! The movie deserves to gross about $300 million at best. It’s getting better reviews than New Moon, but it’s only get about a 50% like-rating.

“Deserves” to gross 300 million? I think that’s being generous.

I admit I contributed to the $121 mil sorry LOL It didn’t suck as much as the last 2, the guy playing Jasper was actually OK this time around, crazy!

    • lol

“Didn’t suck as much as the last two” is such a ringing endorsement. lol

      • Andy

LOL I know, right? They should totally put that on the commercials.

And Eclipse broke no records, it decresed Friday to Saturday to Sunday for a $69 million weekend for a 6 day total of $161 million.

Last Airbender also declined Friday to Saturday to Sunday ($16 million Friday, $14 million Saturday, $9 million Sunday), yet still made $40 million over the weekend for a 5 day total of $57 million, already almost outgrossing M. Night’s last film.

Yup, I just saw that. So much for 200 million, eh?
