Matthew Vaughn is doing his fellow Brits a favor by casting them in the majority of these roles. Hayley Atwell in Captain America, Andrew Garfield as the new Spiderman, even Rose Huntington-Whiteley replacing Megan Fox, and now this. They’re taking over! At least when it comes to big-budget studio films that feature culturally significant American characters, lol (minus the Megan Fox role, of course).
ohmigosh, Brits in films made in America :O Cos the mythologies totally aren’t present in the UK as well, totally aren’t fairly huge in the UK, and because we ONLY want to see Americans in these kinds of films…
I was just pointing at that there’s significant spike in Brit actors being cast in big budget action movies based on comics that originated in America. No one’s saying Brits haven’t or shouldn’t be cast in American films (as they always have) – it’s just a noticeable trend as of late. If quite a few American actors had been cast in the Harry Potter films or some culturally significant franchise to Britain, Brits would freak out, even though the books are huge in America… so no need to be so ornery. :-/
Technically he had no idea that Aaron Johnson was British when he auditioned for Kick-Ass. His accent was that good.
Nicholas Hoult was brilliant on the show Skins. That’s all I’ve ever seen him in, if he’s half as good in this it will be an immense service to the movie.
Can’t wait to see this movie. There are so many cute boys… but where are the girls?
Why is Hollywood wasting time with “First Class?” I want to see the screen adaptations of “The Dark Phoenix Saga” and “The Days of Future Past”. MARVEL IS SCREWING THINGS UP AGAIN!!!!!
The whole Dark Phoenix saga would be intersting but the most we got was X-Men 3…I think this is a Fox film not a Marvel Studios one or at least Fox is calling the shots.
Because you’re never going to see them in movieverse. Duh. Read the comic and move on.
Ok i think it’s misdirection. The original first class was Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, Angel and Jean Grey.
Banshee and Havok didn’t come til much later, so maybe they have smaller parts, but how can they be part of the first class?
No, it’s not. Movieverse is NOT the comics. This is a prequel to the X-Men (2000) movie, and includes (roughly) all the bits from X-3 and Wolverine Origins. Hence, Emma will know Scott from being rescued from Stryker by Wolverine and Gambit. Bobby and Warren probably won’t even be born when XFC is set, so there will not be the traditional First Five – which I think is great.
This has to be total misdirection, or the movie is something other than I thought. Banshee and Havok are not characters in the first class of X-men. The original X-men were Jean Grey (aka Marvel Girl), Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, and The Angel. Professor X was there of course and the villians would naturally be lead by Magneto. Those are the characters of the original X-Men. Banshee and Havok were X-Men from a cluttered group of X-Men from the late 1970s and 1980s.
I would be awesome to have Havok. He’s Scott Summers’s (Cyclops) brother.
It*
Well, weren’t Iceman and Angel already in the other X-men movies? And they were both shown to be pretty young so I doubt they’ll be in this movie.
Exactly.
Still waiting for Angel and Ice Man. Can’t have the original X-Men without them.
Sure you can… and you will.
People are assuming that they’re using the comic’s continuity as a guide as to who was in the X-Men’s first class, they’re not. The movie’s continuity is a whole different animal they’ve already proven that.
Um, I like the idea of Havok and Banshee but they must have the original..oh who am I kidding..they most likely will screw it up like they did X3..
Well, Singer did the first two, and he’s the executive producer for the movie. Matthew Vaughn, the director has done some great work so far.
Im pretty sure the exec’s will probabably screw up the casting…I don’t know how but they will or they will give us a CW-esq movie with Twilight vibes…hopefully this won’t happen cause im kind of looking forward to this.
If this is all talks of misdirection, who’s to say Lucas Till might be playing Angel which I think is a role they need to fill before worrying about Havok.
Warren was already in X3, so he’ll be an infant when First Class occurs.
hmm… the girls seem to be lacking!
Deborah Ann Woll for Jean Grey!
Just realize that they’re NOT using the comic timeline and move on. It’s not as if the movies up until now stuck to the comics that well (hello, Gambit, a good 10-15 years early), so I don’t know what all the outrage is for.
Not outrage, just the usual braindead bloggers shooting off their moths before thinking.
I should be cast as Mystique! tee-hee!
hello there to you all, i see that your doing a casting call for “Havok” that would be the bast prson for that part for my nick name is “Havic”
