'Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn' to film in Louisiana and Vancouver

Tags: ,

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn has found its home, and for the first time, Twi-Hards can travel down south to catch a glimpse of their favorite vampires. Summit Entertainment announced today what had long been expected: that the final two Twilight films, to be directed by Bill Condon, will shoot in both Baton Rouge, La., and Vancouver. Louisiana’s appealing tax credits have drawn a number of productions to its locales, one bright spot on the state’s struggling economy. As such, Summit will take advantage of such deals, heading first to Louisiana, where the film’s interior locations will be shot. Then once weather has improved in Vancouver, the Breaking Dawn production will move to Canada, sometime in the New Year.

The first installment of Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be released on Nov. 18, 2011.

Couldn’t get a permit to film on Isle Esme??

    • StewyFan

Karate Pants, bahahahahahaha!!! You have become rather attached I see.

      • Karate Pants

        Yeah, I think I’m making a semi-permanent/permanent change. I like it.

  • nerdyjosh

Yeah I agree with Karate Pants. So, they’re not filming on an exotic and beautiful island? That’s a good chunk of the novel…

    • StewyFan

Granted I have never been there, but Louisiana is fairly picturesque right? Maybe they are doing the tight camera angles to insinuate an island. IDK, I am trying to be positive. :P

      • LOL

Sadly we all know that Summit is far too cheap to do any actual filming on an island. You people were lucky enough they sprung for Italy the last time.

      • StewyFan

        No sh*t.

      • StormiNicole69

I love in louisiana and it is quite beautiful down here! I think our state is one of the prettiest states in the country! :) I think the movie will be AWESOME!

    • Shauna

:O they better film on the island thats one of the main parts in the novel:(

      • StewyFan

I think all of us have visions of what Isle Esme looks like and it is supposed to be the epitome of the dreamiest paradise, so hopefully they will not disappoint.

      • HallieS

They have islands off the coast of Lousiana. It’a not like they announced they’re gonna film that stuff in a grimy swamp.

      • petuniafromhell

But aren’t those island’s surrounded by oil?

  • Liz Lemon

    Why is this news?
I’ve never seen a post about where other movies are being filmed.

    • Eric

Well Liz, the filming location of your show is in its title. Blargh

  • kyle

where and when? i would so travel a bit to see them, and its not too far from me. i want to see them film!

  • alicia

    there is a “web//site” named “b l a c k // w h i t e // C u p i d” for dating or relationship, black or white singles can go there to find something sexy or beauty online !!!! ;)

  • Cris

Too bad it won’t only be playing in Vancouver and Louisiana

    • Karate Pants

Oh come on, you can do better than that! ;)

      • StewyFan

The clever quips are suffering here lately.

  • Jackie

“Twi-Hards can travel down south to catch a glimpse of their favorite vampires.” Does this mean I can go to Louisiana and see Eric Northman? He’s my favorite vampire, and he does live in Louisiana :) Besides Spike, that is. Edward comes after Spike on my list.

    • StewyFan

      Eric Northman, hubba hubba.

      • Jackie

::sigh:: Book four of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, “Dead to the World”… Let’s just say, you get a LOT of Eric :)

      • Amber Zuniga

yes, a friend of mine met him while he was here

    • scarlett56

no, but if you come to Baton Rouge, I can show you a place where you can get bit….lol

  • Laura

They said they’d use Louisiana for interior shots. Either they’re going to create Isle Esme on a huge soundstage in Louisiana, or they’re somehow going to film that outside in Vancouver. (Vancouver is pretty but doesn’t look anything like the Isle Esme I picture. It will work fine for Forks, however, when Jacob’s running with the pack and over to the Cullens’ house…)

  • Tara

I’m from Louisiana right outside Baton Rouge and I have NO idea why they’ve decided to film here. Louisiana is boring and there is nothing “picturesque” about it. I guess if they’re doing only indoor shots it’s not such a big deal. I don’t know. I sure had my hopes up for a beautiful Isle Esme!

    • Faye

“Louisiana is boring and there is nothing “picturesque” about it.” I live in southern Louisiana and I disagree with your statement 100%. Starting with the outdoors, we have wetlands with oak trees and cypress trees hundreds of years old. We also have world famous architecture throughout the state. If LA is so “boring” why do thousands of tourists visit every year? You’ve obviously never left the confines of home and explored our beautiful state. What a shame.

      • Daphne22

i live in LA also and this is a beautiful place to live, visit,or make a movie!

      • Tara

        **yawn** to each his own…

      • StormiNicole69

        I agree with Daphne22!!!

  • Tara

And also… I just got back from a trip to Forks and our trees in Louisiana look NOTHING like the trees where the other Twilight movies have been filmed. So there will be a HUGE noticeable difference there.

    • t

Except that the article clearly states that they will be filming the interior scenes in Louisiana.

  • brynna

Not sure why they have to split it up. They’ve done the last two films in Vancouver just fine. Blah.

    • J

They chose to shoot the movie in BR because of the film tax incentives offered in Louisiana.

    • Katie

$5 says they got a sweet tax break to film in Louisiana. They’ll shoot wherever they can save the most money.

  • So the interior of the island house…

…is going to be some antebellum mansion? Cool. I hope they use the mannor house at Oak Alley. Ever since I saw it on “Interview with the Vampire” and “Ghost Hunters” it’s given me the heebeejeebies. *shudder*

    • The thought of Renesmee’s birth alone…

…is enough to make one’s skin crawl. Now the place where she’s conceived can be just as scary!

    • scarlett56

That would be absolutely beautiful……I love that place…

      • StormiNicole69

omg that place is so beautiful!

  • ariiii

i love how they didn’t specify which vancouver they’re filming in. here, i was all excited that the production was coming to vancouver, washington. should have known we weren’t even important enough to be distinguished from BC

    • Heather P

Yep, I’m from Vancouver WA too. It’s irritating that Vancouver is automatically assumed to be the Canadian city. Even though our city is older.
But I happen to know that it is going to be filmed in BC like New Moon and Eclipse were. Twilight was filmed across the river in Portland. It was nice to see the Gorge on film.

  • FlippyStew

Summit is just a cheap studio trying to save $$$ wherever they can. These movies have made the studio a TON of money. Why can’t they go on location and film in Brazil? They did it for New Moon, why not do it again? It’s not like they cannot afford the trip. And, only the two leads (Rob & Kristen) need to go.

    • StewyFan

      I adore your name.

  • Tammy

How are you going to film interior locations in Louisiana when all the sets are houses are in Vancouver. Are we finally going to get the correct style house the Cullens actually live in? A little late.

    • MexiChick

Interiors are usually done on a soundstage (La has lots of ‘em now.) So they shoot outside of real house, but when the actors walk inside, it’s a completely different place, probably shot on a different day. The real inside of the houses they use are usually completely different lay-out. Sometimes you can tell that the soundstage interior is actually way too big to fit in the house they use for exteriors.
