I am so excited for this movie!!! The casting doesn’t sound half bad!

I was worried about the casting at first but now that I think about it I think they’re picking the right people. I know she’s too old for the role but I think Kristin Chenoweth would make a great Miss Celia.

I hadn’t thought of Kristin Chenoweth as Celia, but I LIKE the idea A LOT!!

VIOLA DAVIS!!! That’s enough for me! Also, it’s nice to see Octavia Spencer step out of the myriad bit parts she has played over the years (including a fantastic turn as an immigration officer in love with Ignacio Suarez on “Ugly Betty”) and is finally getting a meaty part! This is a fine cast, indeed!

I am good with the casting thus far, and other posters are right Viola Davis (although fabulous) is about 8 years and 50lbs too young for Abileen. Although make up and a “suite” can overcome the discrepency.
Personally I would have loved Scarlett Johannson as Skeeter, that’s who I pictured while reading the book.

Allison Janney looks like she’s 18 years old in that photo. I’m used to seeing really bad photos on tvguide.com, so it’s nice to see a flattering picture for a change.

Oops I guess I should have reversed the 50lbs and 8 years in my post…sorry about that.

I was thinking of someone like Amanda Siefried for Skeeter; kind of gangley. I think they could make her look kind of plain and gawky. I also thought of someone older as her mother; maybe Blyth Danner. Chandra Wilson (Dr. Bailey) from Grey’s is who I thought of for Minny the whole time I was reading the book.

Chandra Wilson would be PERFECTION as Minnie! Dangit, why’d you have to say that?? ;)

Amanda Siefried or someone a bit gentler would hae made a good Skeeter – Emma Stone, with that beautiful but husky voice, isn’t quite the image I had (Rachel McAdams too). What about Evan Rachel Wood? Southern, tall, strong but soft at the same time.

I just read this book and could not put it down! It was wonderful! I am so excited to hear they are making a movie! Rachel McAdams is a good choice for Skeeter, although she isn’t tall like the book describes. I can’t wait to see the movie!

Oh Allison Janney, she’s my favorite! She so much reminds me of my grandmother. I’m thrilled that they’ve decided to keep filming her through silk, like they did with Doris Day. It really does cover up almost all of her lines and wrinkles!

I think Viola Davis will be great as Aibileen and would have loved to see Queen Latifah as Minnie! I’m having a hard time with Emma Stone as Skeeter too? This has so much potential let’s keep our fingers crossed and they do the book the justice it deserves on screen.

Growing up in the sixties in Mississippi, I’m very sensitive about how our state is protrayed in the movied. Though I enjoyed the book, I won’t see the movie. The accents will be unbearably exaggerated. I’ll just spare myself the aggravation.
