Oh my gosh. I canna wait for this movie. I’ve been practicing all my frisbee moves at the park and when the movie comes out, I will be at the premier wearing my Tronman suit and performing for people in line.
From the clips and trailers, this new Tron looks just like a scene-by-scene remake, only with better CGI. Not my idea of a “great” film. They should have called this Tron: Special Edition.
Tron Story!
“It’s bad in that you only do go for help and only ever reshoot if you really really need to.”
Except for the fact that “going for help” and “reshooting” is the ONLY way the Pixar doing things, I’d say you’re correct.
Pixar has a policy of tweaking and even throwing things out as they go all the way until the end. As they famously say, every film they’ve released has, at some point, been the worst movie they’ve ever made.
Lasseter worked at Disney animation when the original Tron was being developed — Tron was one of his first exposures to computer animation and it’s potential. Though he didn’t work on the film, I imagine he has a very special interest in it’s Legacy, so to speak, and only good things will come of Lasseter and Pixar’s involvement.
