I still think of the movie, Inception, and wonder why I could not get it! To me, it wasn’t enjoyable to have to “think so hard” about what was going on and trying to connect everything correctly. I’m sure there are many, many people who immediately ‘got it’ or it wouldn’t have been such a big hit. I, unfortunately, had to stop watching it 2/3 through the movie. I felt like I was taking the hardest exam of my life!!! Leonardo is still very nice to look at though….
I believe the acting and the actors in the movie did an amazing job. The directing was great as well, however for someone to step-up a plot and leave a host of holes for the viewer to leave to their own interpretation is hardly genius at all. It works in books but not in movies. The movie is scattered which is principle to Nolan’s style, but for those who aren’t fans of Nolan or are intellectually challenged. The movie doesn’t cater to them. Just by me saying this, is inception. Oh my god I am a genius best review ever. No?
I saw the movie on HBO last night for the first time. I came to this site to discover why I was NOT the only one who doesn’t have a clue as to why this movie garnered so much fanfare.
still watching i just think out of looking up peoples perceptions of the movie are dead-on. It’s a movie you have to pay close attention to that’s for sure, and I’m use to movies sucking me in not dragging me online to find out what it’s about. I am a girl yes, and I still find DiCaprio way over-rated, after Titanic I was over the love-crush, and all his other movies including shutter island I felt he made it more confusing. There were a few movies he did alright in portraying the villain part like catch me if I can was a bad-ass movie, that I think played off his personality really well. Overall I can’t say much when I didn’t finish it, I must say I hope I didn’t waste another 1 of my life watching a movie that people said was great that actually really sucked. But I guess old man is right, I should stick to toy story movies as well, they are a lot more easier too understand.
I tried, & I tried, to understand/ “get” this movie but I just can’t seem to understand exactly what the main point of the whole movie all the way to the ending (which made me believe “ohh there is actually something to get in this film…?”) . Hmmm, im usually able to figure out what is going on quite quickly in a film & for sure by the end of it. But Inception either did a poor job with this….Or…. maybe there just isnt anything to “get” ….? I feel lost, like I am also one of the FEW who didnt understand exactly what went on this film….
You must just be a tad tocuhed because it made total sense and was a freaking masterpiece. Seeing it multiple times helps for sure (I saw it 9 times) and you discover new stuff each view. But ya, the things you whine about kinda make me laugh becuase I got exactly what Nolan wanted me to get. And dude, it’s a Nolan film, shut up and like it.
I didn’t get it, watched it three times. After reading about it I finally understood the end.I still enjoyed it, but it had me stopping to figure out what was happening. The Matrix I could follow but this was a little hard for me.
well i agree n disagree with some points most people said here. “your dreaming if you truly think you can comprehend what really was happening in this movie.” ill tell you what the plot was,all the controversial scenarios and alternate endings and i only watched it once!super basic for those who dont wanna think a bunch(or a little).the plot is basiclly to implant an idea in someones head and make them believe its theirs, so they will act on it which in turn benefits you.EASY (how’d some not get that) now his wife, she killed herself or she woke up, but was still in his sub-conscious.alternate ending time! was it a dream or did they complete there mission?or was the mission to get info from his brain?thats why people dont understand movies like this, not made to watch then THINK ABOUT IT, they’re made for constant thinking outside the box and truly look at all angles….i said it as basic as i could for the people who dont get it but mainly cuz i dont wanna type a bunch
This blog is definitely interesting and besides diverting. I have found a lot of interesting things out of this source. I’d love to return over and over again. Thanks!
6Lsvx0 Good post.
What I don’t get is what Nolan wanted me to take away from Inception–that isn’t clear to me, would someone mind explaining what they got?
Because in Prestige, I feel that Nolan creates a similar feeling of “is this real” or “what’s the reality?”, but MORE importantly, I feel that Nolan has taught me something by showing me the lives and the actions of “two” (three) different men both driven by passion. And that’s the bigger reason why I love the Prestige: not just because of the well-crafted presentation but the content of the characters.
So what I’d like to know is, did Nolan want me to feel the same thing about the characters of Inception? Or was it “just” to question the reality of everything? Because I think I definately can question Inception, but I’m not sure that I’ve “learned” something from the characters….well, mostly Cobb–I felt very empty at the end regarding his overall arc.
Anyone help please?
You could definitely see your skills in the work you write. The world hopes for even more passionate writers like you who aren’t afraid to say how they believe. All the time follow your heart.
I do trust all of the concepts you’ve offered for your post. They are very convincing and will definitely work. Nonetheless, the posts are too short for newbies. May you please extend them a little from next time? Thank you for the post.
Troy Barnes didn’t get it either.
