Nicolas Cage back in 'Trespass'

Wow, talk about a rough couple of days for all the crew members of Joel Schumacher’s upcoming thriller Trespass. First, Nicolas Cage bowed out of the movie just weeks before it was to begin production in New Orleans. Then, the actor re-boarded the project, but switched roles for a third time, Millennium Films confirmed today. Deadline Hollywood first reported the news.

Originally, Cage was cast in the drama as Nicole Kidman’s husband, but opted to play one of the thieves who terrorizes the couple just weeks before production began. Well now it looks like the veteran actor has flip-flopped one more time, returning to play Kidman’s betrothed. Perhaps the role of the madman, in light of his poor showing in the recent The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, is less appealing to the constantly-working actor? Cameras begin rolling shortly. No word yet on who’s playing the thieves.

Of course he’s back…someone reminded him that he desperately needs the $$$.

Maybe tomorrow he’ll announce that he’s decided to play Nicole Kidman’s role.

Well, if he did take Kidman’s role, at least her character would have some facial expressions…

He’s all fire and she’s all ice. That would really flex his acting skills. Maybe he flipped the first time because the idea of interacting with that popsicle was revolting. and he flipped back to hone his craft in spite of his revulsion.

        Zing!

^ So True, my thoughts exactly.

If he plays both the husband AND the bad guy, does he get paid twice as much? he did it in adaptation.

I think you should be his new adviser.

does ew fet all its news from deadline hollywood and other sites, or do they do some actual reporting…

What strange casting. Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman as married couple?! Yuck.

  • jim mikel

only a crapfest like this with Schumacher would pay these long done movie stars millions. What a business.

EW calls itself news? The villian is being played by Cam Gigandet. Do we have to do all the work for you?

Breaking news: Nicholas Cage has now announced he will play a beekeeper who suffers a horrifying fate early in the movie. “NOT THE BEES!!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!”

  • Chris

Another update: Cage has now changed roles again. On odd numbered days, he will play the couch in the married couple’s house. On even numbered days, he will be the on-set janitor, yelling “HOW IT’D GET BURNED!?” at Joel Schumacher. He may also punch every female member of the cast, but that has not been confirmed.

Wow! Chris, Not Funny at all!! Maybe you should write Nic Cage’s next movie

  • Chris

I was making fun of how ridiculous Cage has become and how ridiculous The Wicker Man movie was. And I bet I could come up with better material than the drivel he’s been peddling out.

“Theives terrorizing a couple”? is the plot? Wasn’t there a movie like that out a couple years ago starring Naomi Watts? And aren’t there a couple more similar that have been done? I suppose that’s such a small description of the plot, but it doesn’t sound very original, but then, what does in Hollywood? ;)

Another update: Cage and Schumacher will have their faces surgically switched. So now Schumacher will play the husband with Cage’s face on Schumacher’s body. Cage will direct with Schumacher’s face on Cage’s body. And Cage will only speak to the actors with his Little Elvis voice.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – despite what many might, was in my opinion and a few other people I know – to be a very cool, and fun movie. There wasn’t anything wrong with it. Had Inception not be in the mix, I’m sure The Sorcerer’s Apprentice would’ve done way better. It had perfect mix of fantasy, action, and drama. Anyways back to the topic at hand -
Casting Nic Cage against Nicole Kidman is a horrible match. Kick out Nic (send him to do Ghost Rider 2 ) and bring in Hugh Jackman. Now fire Joel Schumacher and hire a director who knows what the hell is doing. And the plot sounds unbelievably lame and recycled beyond reason. Bad Idea period. The whole cast/crew should just walk off the set LOL!

And then they rename the movie “Australia” and watch it bomb all over again…

Nic Cage needs a REAL movie. Martin Scorcesse (sp?) take Nic Cage and put in him one of your movies where he show the world he can in fact do more than just show facial expressions with his eyes and mouth. That there’s an actor within. See Adaption & Leaving Las Vegas for evidence of this.

I just realized I made a bunch of typos in the last comment. Oh well. :P

Nic was already in Scorsese’s Bringing Out The Dead. Not a bad flick. Nic is washed up. Google the story about him doing drugs with his cat. F’ing hysterical.
