It’s D-Day for The Social Network, which finally reaches theaters today after weeks of hype. It’s already earned the money reviews from the likes of EW and the New York Times—now it needs the box office to truly become a top Oscar player. As far as the major categories are concerned, it certainly seems on its way to a Best Picture nomination and also has a strong chance at scoring nods for Jesse Eisenberg (Best Actor) and, most likely, Andrew Garfield (Best Supporting Actor), but at this early date its best shot at an actual win feels like Best Adapted Screenplay. In Part 2 of our video interview with screenwriter Aaron Sorkin and the film’s cast, we discuss some of the best “talky” movies of all time, this one included.

Don’t adapted screenplays have to have a source material other than “a true story”? What’s been adapted besides Sorkin’s vision of the events?
It’s based on a book called “The Accidental Billionaires.”
But… Sorkin and the author of that book wrote it at the same time.
Doesn’t Justin Timberlake look stupid in that picture?
Yes
Glad somebody mentioned A Few Good Men, my favorite movie of ALL time.
I personally believe that money does not matter to make the film an Oscar conteneder. Just look at Hurt Locker. Lack of money did nothing to hurt it and actually helped that film. So money has no place in discussions about Oscar contenders. Especially since last year.
I think that Social Network will probably get numerous nominations but, yes, Adapted Screenplay seems most likely this year.
money matters if you donate it to public schools! That seems to be a hot issue now.
A Few Good Men a great movie? It is an overrated and overlong film with Tom Cruise playing the worst lawyer in movie history. If you watch the climatic clash between Cruise and Nicholson in its entirety, it is very awkwardly done and depended more on dumb luck than good lawyering.
The internet, Golden Globes, AMPAS, AFI and The Foundation for Awesome things disagree with your sentiment.
Aaron Sorkin is probably a total headcase but damn it if that man nows how to write the talk n’ walk.
I don’t care what everybody else said. What do you think “overrated” meant?
Hahaha Andrew Garfield is adorable
