'The Green Hornet': The new trailer is funnier, gassier

A new Green Hornet trailer is making the rounds today, and it makes the movie seem a bit more like a comedy. (The old trailer made it look a little bit like an action movie that Seth Rogen accidentally wandered into.) We get a slightly better sense of the Hornet/Kato bromance (Jay Chou looks like a deadpan wonder), and overall, it’s starting to look more and more like a Michel Gondry movie. Although I’m still constantly surprised to rediscover that Cameron Diaz is in this movie. This trailer played at my Harry Potter midnight screening last night to loud laughter — check it out now!

PopWatchers, are you feeling more intrigued about Green Hornet? If you can choose only one green superhero film to watch next year, would you choose this or Green Lantern?

I think at this point I’m going to choose the Green Hornet. The Green Latern looks incredibly cheesy. I love Ryan Reynolds but really? They look like they spent 5 dollars on special effects.

    I totally dig that car.

Doesn’t look bad. I like how they’re going in a lighter direction instead of the same dark tone that’s overused in Superhero movies IMHO. And I love the Bruce Lee reference.

    Green Hornet > Green Lantern

I remember the TV series with Van Williams and Bruce Lee from my childhood, and loved it. I am not particularly happy about a movie starring Seth Rogen, and certainly not happy if it turns out to be a comedy. I may go see it, but if I had to choose, it would be Green Lantern.

Trailer seems cool. I don’t like the homophobic BS though. Enough of that already.

I agree completely- the first trailer made this seem like a typical action movie, nothing really special about it, and absolutely NO traces of Michel Gondry. This trailer was redemption for that. I’m definitely more inclined to see it now.

If I had to pick one it would be Green Lantern – but only because I’ve been a GL fan since the Hal Jordan version first appeared in the fifties [I've only been a fan of the Hornet since the TV series in the late '60s].

OTOH, I’m a big Michel Gondry fan, so there is something of a dilemma, here.

Fortunately, I only have to pay for one of them, so I’m going to see both.

I love me some Ryan Reynolds, but this trailer blews the Green Lantern out of the water. This is what I’m marking on my calendar!

With all of his mugging in both the last and the new trailer. My fears about Seth Rogen being miscast as the Green Hornet are proven to be true.

I just seen a preview of Green Hornet movie and I have too say I like it but I think if van williams and Bruce Lee would be great tech advisors too the film

haha that was hilarious at the end.

I want to see them both. Ryan Reynolds in his little outfit + Jay Chou = yes.

Jay Chou is less a “deadpan wonder” than he is a pop star who barely understands English. Not hard to be the straight man when you don’t have a clue what’s going on, eh? His acting is so bad in Chinese – basically, he plays himself in every film – I’ve got serious doubts about him in English. Lantern.

Saw this at a screening, and I actually enjoyed it. Didn’t think I would. Very funny. I would recommend it for its pure entertainment value.
