Angelina Jolie responded to criticisms of her upcoming directorial debut, a still-untitled love story about a Serbian man and a Bosnian Muslim woman set just before the 1992-1995 war. “There’s one person who has a gripe,” she told Reuters. “The absolute majority of the people, population, the cast, prime minister, president have been extremely supportive.”
Others are less supportive, however. The Bosnian advocacy group Women Victims of War wrote a letter to the United Nations High Council on Refugees — for which Jolie is a goodwill ambassador — saying that Jolie’s attitudes were “ignorant,” and that its members were “deeply concerned” about the upcoming movie. According to Agence France-Presse, controversy began when reports surfaced that Jolie’s film included a storyline about a Muslim rape victim who falls for her Serbian rapist — a rumor Jolie denied, as did the Bosnian production company.
As kind of a person she is do those people really think she would portray them in a bad light. Wait and see the movie then judge like u will do.
You know her personally? Some of her causes I’m all for but she’s no saint and doesn’t come across as kind to me so maybe it’s just a perception thing.

I can’t believe Angelina (as liberal and Hollywood as she might be) would be this stupid. But then again these celebutards always surprise me. Johnny Depp was defending that child-rapist French film director Roman Polanski and saying that it’s totally fine he didn’t serve his time in jail for raping a 13 year old child just because he’s not likely to do it again. This movie seems to maybe be a little influenced by the real life story that was featured on Frontline, entitled “Romeo and Juliet of Sarajevo.” The war in Bosnia was not caused by Muslims or Islam, it was a political agenda to divide up Bosnia between Croatia and Serbia when Yugoslavia broke up. Muslims, Catholics, Orthodox Christians and Jews have coexisted in Bosnia for hundreds of years. Mike, you have no clue about history if you truly believe what you wrote in your comment. If you add up the numbers of victims (civilian and non-civilian), Muslims represented the highest numbers. Lastly, never forget the Srebrenica genocide, which wasn’t even the only form of ethnic cleansing that took place in Bosnia. Agreed with David 100%.
The Bosnian war and conflict is still very fresh in the minds of people who went through it, and because of the genocide that occured, I think it is hard for any Bosnian to fathom a story about a love affair between them and a Serbian. Although I think Angelina Jolie would not be so insensitive as to trivialize what they went through, she is wading in rough waters with this one.
Oh come on…the phenomena of mixed marriages in bosnia is way too common to consider it a taboo…and there are a lot of stories, movies, books tht encompass it…so, let angelina do it…we all know we need some closure and reconciliation…its abt damn time…
