TorrentFreak.com crowned Avatar the most popular illegal download of the year, tallying more than 16 million downloads on BitTorrent alone. That figure is 51 percent more than the figure attributed to Star Trek, 2009′s top illegal download. Rounding out the list’s top-10 are Kick-Ass, Inception, Shutter Island, Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans, Green Zone, Sherlock Holmes, The Hurt Locker, and Salt. In other words, Sam Worthington, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Downey Jr. are extraordinarily popular with the piracy crowd.

They were thinking that they didn’t want to pay for something that, from everything I heard before I saw it, was a thin story covered with really pretty scenery.
