Cedar Rapids may be pushing its cred — Sundance selection, it’s a Fox Searchlight movie, the costuming is ostensibly drab and unflattering — but it sure looks like a mainstream goofball comedy to me. Come for Ed Helms, John C. Reilly, and Rob Corddry being silly; stay for Isiah Whitlock Jr. making a joke about The Wire. And Anne Heche as a red-head. (And Alia Shawkat as a prostitute.)
I like a good nerd-lets-loose story, and Ed Helms does the uptight-guy schtick as well as it can possibly be done.
Are you looking forward to Cedar Rapids?

Yes, I’ll definitely be looking forward to this one. Ed Helms’ character in The Hangover was funny, and I’ve become a big fan of his on The Office, too.
In the still frame of the embedded video, I thought Anne Heche was Patricia Clarkson.
Wow. Looks like a cross between Tha Hangover and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Minus the funny.
Pass.
Isiah Whitlock Jr. making a “Wire” joke? Shhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiitttt.
Also, I thought Ed Helms was funny in “The Hangover” too…but I just don’t know if I want to see that character as the lead in his own movie.
I DO like the cast though.
(Before anyone jumps on me, I DO realize Helms isn’t literally playing Stu again, but still…)
” I don’t eeeeeeven want to know.” That joke belongs in 1995 with ” Too much information”
This looks awesome. Cannot wait to see it
I’m from Cedar Rapids. The movie clearly wasn’t filmed there – the panorama in the first few moments of the trailer isn’t even a stock photo of Cedar Rapids. I don’t get it.
