Sears and Kmart have launched Alphaline Entertainment, a movie download service that, like similar services from Best Buy, Amazon, and Wal-mart, offers streaming movies the same day new titles are released in stores. Alphaline is powered by Sonic’s Roxionow backend. Registration is free; rentals are $3.99; purchased titles are $19.95.
You can also still go to a Sears store to pick up a treadmill or washing machine. But you would have to leave the house. [Engadget]

But they won’t carry ‘Smell the Glove.’
How can Sears and Kmart ‘team up’ for anything if they’re owned by the same company?
It’s a little late to the game don’t they know?
So I can get a monthly membership to NetFlix for $7.95 for all of the on-demand movies I want, or I can use teh new Sears service and pay $3.99 a movie. Wow, I am just not sure.
They really are idiots at that company, aren’t they?
While I agree with you that Netfilx would be superior to this, it is worth mentioning that if you dont watch movies very often this could be a better option for you.
If you only watch 1 movie a month, $3.99 is a better price than $7.99.
Not that hard to understand.
BUT… none of those people who watch 1 movie a month or less are gonna post on this website
Geez they can’t even get an order right when buying something on line, I’m going to rent movies on line from them??????
I will stick to Redbox. I only rent maybe once or twice a month.
LOL. That was for this rediculous idea. Sears will get another lol when I read that Sears has abandoned said rediculous idea, which it will…
You can always tell an expert! Thanks for conitrubitng.
