'The Other Woman' trailer: Watch Natalie Portman transform into the Grey Swan

Now that Natalie Portman is the equivalent of a gold-medal-winning all-around gymnast (“The Nastia Liukin of pop culture!” –Entertainment Weekly), we get to see the trailer for a movie she filmed two years ago, The Other Woman. It’ll be available On Demand on Jan. 1 and in a few theaters Feb. 4. It is not a Black Swan clone about ice skating, but it is kind of a Stepmom clone about a child-wary woman who just can’t cope. Except in The Other Woman, Lisa Kudrow plays the real mom, a baby’s death stands in for Susan Sarandon’s cancer, and Natalie Portman doesn’t have Julia Roberts’ infuriating bangs to go along with her natural waves. Check it out:

If your most overwhelming thought is “needs more Natalie Portman ice skating,” may I suggest a detour to the Pooh Bear scene from Beautiful Girls?

Oy vey. That makes RABBIT HOLE seem like fun.

I didn’t hear about Natalie Portman for a year or more, and all of a sudden she has 40 movies coming out. Not complaining tho- she’s cute.

Hated Black Swan, but this is more to my liking. This looks like an Oscar worthy role and should have been promoted as such. Black Swan was too weird for me!

    • Devin Faraci

I’m guessing Precious is more your style.

  • Allex

Looks awfully overwrought. And this proves that Black Swan is a one-off thing….Portman was terrible here.

This was filmed two years ago, so in terms of experience Black Swan was after this.

Between the loss of a child, the destruction of a marriage and the issue of dealing with being and having a new stepparent, I don’t think I would last 10 minutes into this movie. I know that this is the real world now, and these situations occur, but do I have to watch an entire 120 minutes of such pain? I love ya, Nat, but I don’t think I can take this one…I’ll pass.

Should Natalie get an Ew Cover Very Soon? a can’t miss Oscar, Fashion Icon, etc. She is the new Audrey Hepburn. And She is Genuinely Beautiful and talented, not like Pre Fab Bimbo Kim Kardashian.

WOD as Rx\’ed. Strength pullups using a 10lb weghit around waist off and on throughout sets. Did 5.5 rounds of WOD with 105 for pushpress and 125 for squat, using just one bar adding/taking off weghit between sets during recovery

Is anyone else excited that the Wolf from The 10th Kingdom is working again? Because I am!

    • Mia

      That’s EXACTLY what I thought!

The homewrecker walking away with both your husband and your kid. Gee I wonder why this was on the shelf for two years. What woman wouldn’t like to see the homewrecker winning in the end?

  • Michaela

it’s Max Medina! Maaaaax Medina. Max Arturo Medina.

    awesome.

    • Bazinga!

LOL! Love Scott Cohen in everything he does, but love him the most in GG.

Rory: I just want you to know…I really wanted you to be my stepfather.
Mr. Medina: I just want you to know…I really wanted to be your stepfather.

      That just broke my heart!

  • Yolanda

Devin, why would you say something like that? What trailer park did you crawl out of? To put it simply Black Swan was just not my cup of tea. The performances in Precious were amazing, the subject matter too depressing. Is that clearer for you?

I saw this in Toronto ’09 when it was called “Love and Other Impossible Pursuits.” Don Roos who wrote/directed “Happy Endings” and “Opposite of Sex” did the honors, and it’s really very good. And Portman is exquisite.
    exquisite.

  • Pokpak

I think they both got a lot out of the movie, sometimes you won’t see the surelts for a long time because it takes so long to release a movie. Mila was great, and Natalie’s career is just fine, too!
