the casual, non-chalant tone of the quote should (but apparently not) lead one to believe that he’s being facetious. i never got that EW was trying to make it sound like JF was gay… who would seriously come out saying “you know what, maybe i’m just gay”
Yeah, good point. Although I guess, if they wanted to make a real point, not highlight that one quote, highlight the entire article. This one quote is definitely an attention grabber quote, regardless of it being facetious or not. But I see your point.

a true performer is the one who takes on a variety of roles and doesn’t give the same performance each time.
a person’s sexuality is their own. who said just because you are an actor that the world is privy to all private aspects of your life. Keep ‘em guessing Franco. No one has to know anything you don’t want them to. It won’t take anything away from your talent.

What he is saying is, that people are more than gay, straight, bisexual. That we are more than labels, but human beings. That his works surrounding gay themed movies aren’t because he’s gay or necessarily because the theme is gay, but because of the depth of the story itself.
Basically, stop focusing on a persons’ sexuality, and start focusing on who a person is, as a human being.
So if gay actors play straight characters, they must be lying about being gay right? Seriously people move on. Gay or straight James is one fine actor!
