The American Society of Cinematographers has announced its nominees for its annual awards and has recognized the following films: Black Swan (Matthew Libatique), Inception (Wally Pfister), The King’s Speech (Danny Cohen), The Social Network (Jeff Cronenweth), and True Grit (Roger Deakins). Last year, four of the five ASC nominees ended up scoring Oscar nominations as well.

The Social Network, Inception and Black Swan all had great cinematography, not really impressed by The King’s Speech though.
Really? I thought it was absolutely beautiful.
Inception wins this hands down, but fyi, The Kings Speech beats The Social Network for cinematography.
Inception should win this, the first time I saw it I just remember thinking, “I am a little fuzzy on what this movie was about but holy god was it beautiful.”
Not impressed with Black Swan cinematography…too much shaky hand-held camera work, ech!
Black Swan
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
Inception
Mother
Shutter Island
True Grit wins hands down….stunning cinematography…
Black Swan is going to win the Oscar (as in the best picture one). I’m predicting the upset right now. You heard it here first.
Get the tissues ready.
I hope Black Swan wins Best Cinematography here and at the Oscars. The camerawork was…amazing (pun intended).
Substitute 127 HOURS for the predictably boring THE KINGS’S SPEECH and you have an awesome lineup.
T
Enough with The King’s Sppech. It was dull and dreary and at times boring. It is way over-rated and getting way too much attention.
In second place, True Grit, way too much attention. The Coen’s continue to recycle their ideas and continue to rearrange westerns.
ENOUGH ALREADY—
OOOPS, The King’s Speech and for some, I didn’t stutter in the entry above!!
Am I the only here who thinks “Hot Tub Time Machine” is being black listed? My fave was “Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale”…those Fins know how to shoot vapor.
What happen with 127Hours, this movie has an incrible manage of light and color, I hope to see this film at the Oscar.
