    Nice.

  • cat

I thought Amy Adams was better than Melissa Leo. I wish she’d win something.

    • Sasha

Well, Amy is included in the Best Acting Ensemble that The Fighter won. So, she did get some recognition in a way. :)

    • sm

Agreed, but amy adams is in the lead category, not supporting.

      • V

        I don’t think that’s true, sm.

      • Constance

Amy Adams was a nominee for supporting role and lost to Melissa Leo.

      • Jeremy DC

I think Melissa Leo deserved the award more than Amy Adams.

      • Allison

This has nothing to do with her skill as an actress, but Melissa Leo’s hair looked great last night.

  • Sasha

What the…? How did Inception lose Best Score! Zimmer got robbed. But I’m glad Easy A won an award. Great film. I’m also happy that Hailee was recognized for her great job in True Grit.

    • tori

Thank you! I thought Inception losing Best Score was insane. That’s the only score that has stuck with me thus far.

    • Nick

I actually thought the score for The Social Network was more deserving. I’m glad Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won.

      • Sasha

I liked Social Network’s score, also. It definitely deserved a nomination. But it’s like what tori said above. Inception’s score just really stuck with me. It was also a part of the plot itself. So, I was just really surprised it didn’t win, lol. Well, as long as it got recognized is all that matters, I suspose. :)

    • Kris

I’m SO glad Easy A won as well. Best comedy in years and the best teen comedy since Mean Girls.

      • m1

I thought it was the best since Juno, albeit not quite up to that level. But still a great film.

      • kimmy

it was surprisingly smart and well done for a teen comedy. i love emma stone!

  • ladyiq

Jennifer Lawrence in Winter’s Bone was the best actress of 2010.

    • moasey

I just watched Winter’s Bone last night – what a performance from Jennifer Lawrence….truly a great film too.

  • me

LOVED Amy Adams and her chracter in The Fighter – I too wish she would be recognized for this role.

  • cam

I think Hailee’s a bit overpraised. People are too easily confusing stellar performance with juicy role, prestige direction, and award season timing. Not saying she was bad by any means, but I don’t think the role of Mattie is all that emotionally demanding; and after having read the book, I think there were nuances she could have picked up with the character that she didn’t. I was more impressed with Chloe Mortez’s acting this year then Hailee’s.

    • V

THANK YOU. I got ripped to shreds for making this comment a few weeks ago, but I agree.

    • Cat

You are absolutely spot on right.

    • Sam

A role doesn’t need to be emotionally demanding in order to have a great performance.

    • Sasha

I think both Chloe and Hailee knocked it out of the park in their respective roles. The roles for younger actors were really strong this year and competition was tough. I think the voters might have gotten divided on Chloe’s two roles she was nominated for and lead to Hailee getting a lead.

      • tipsy

Nah, Chloe was amazing in two movies whose existance Oscar types do not acknowledge. Vampire subgenre and comic book. Go figure.

      • Sasha

@tipsy. I really don’t think Chole’s roles being too genre were a factor. For example, Kirsten Dunst scored a lot of critical nominations and some wins for her role in Interview With A Vampire.

  • Kelsey

Glad to see Melissa Leo and Christian Bale win for The Fighter, in particular. Great choices.
If everything in the Oscar acting categories lines up like this, it’ll be one of the few times when everyone who wins is completely deserve, in my opinion.

  • fromMarkHall

Best Picture and Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay but nothing for the actors in “The Social Network”??? So it’s THAT kind of movie.

    • Tye-Grr

      Whatever THAT means…

The actors are stellar, FYI. I’m sure they’ll take the SAG acting ensemble. Or at least they deserve to.

      • Zach

No, that should definitely go to The Fighter, just as the BFCA’s award did.

      • fromMarkHall

Well, they have awards for Best Animated, and Best Action…but drama rates Best Picture??? THAT kind of movie.

    • Ap

Well, the acting is pretty good in The Social Network. If anyone has a chance at an acting award in the film it’s Garfield. IMO Firth has Eisenberg beat.

      • Nick

Garfield has no chance. He’s deserving of his nomination, but in no way does he have a chance at beating Christian Bale. Bale has it locked up at this point.

      • Salli

I agree with Nick. Bale and Firth will both probably when the Oscar, too. Eisenberg and Garfield are still young. They’ll have plenty of chances in the future to win Oscars.

      • tipsy

Garfield has zero chance because that category is Bale`s who`s been sweeping wins left and right. garfield isn`t even runner-up as far as critics wins go and he is not nominated for SAG which is a huge handicap. he was amazing but lets take facts into consideration. Nomination is going to be his award. Bale is the winner.

OTOH, while I think Firth is winning BA, Eisenberg is a strong runner-up as far as critic awards wins go. He could upset.

  • Cat

    Congrats to Christian Bale!

  • Liz

I’m glad Inception took all of those tech awards. It really had no competition. I loved Bale’s speech. If he keeps it up, the oscar is his.

  • Ellie

Glad to see Colin Firth up there!!

  • Logan

I like that ‘Inception’ won best editing, which I think it deserved, but I’m miffed that ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ didn’t even get NOMINATED! Regardless of thoughts about the movie, it’s hard to deny the comedic style lent to the film by masterful cutting.

    • Amie

I agree, while Scott Pilgrim may not have had the best acting or story-line to compete with these other films it was wonderfully done with editing and art direction. You can watch it five times and still notice new editing effects.

  • del taco

Social Network : best movie ? A good movie. Yes. Well told and acted. But that was it. Nothing more, nothing less. People who elevate to to a higher status, just have not seen alot of movies. Critics Movie Awards ranks along with the MTV Movie Awards in terms of credibility. Which is none.

    • matt

Well del, it’s probably the frontrunner to win Best Picture at the Oscars as well, if The King’s Speech doesn’t clench it. This winners list looks pretty close to Oscar predictions in general. Not saying it wasn’t just a “good” movie but it is being recognized as being of higher status by film critics.

    • Corey

Actually del, the Critics Choice has matched with the Oscar winner in the Best Picture category 6 straight years…last year it matched the winners of all acting categories, film, director, and both screenplay categories; and it is the most accurate prediction of Oscar nominees out there…So I’d say it has a lot of credibility

  • Cat

The King’s Speech had fantastic cinematography, even better than Inception’s, if you ask me.

  • wildflowerfaith

Am I the only person who thinks The Social Network is overrated? I really don’t understand the OBSCENE amount of love this film is receiving. I liked it enough, I thought the acting was really great and the editing of it was smart, but Best Picture it was not.

    • ed

Its way overrated and it was just an ok move that needed to be made for Lifetime channel. Black Swan was horrible

      • Kris

Black Swan was incredible. You’re crazy.

    • me

      amen.

Not when you have King’s Speech, Black Swan and others out there. Are they all afraid Mark Z is also spying on the FB?

    • carl

No, you are not the only one. The Social Network is without a doubt the most overrated movie of the year!

    • tipsy

No. Fincher thinks it is highly overrated too. If you read his interview in W you`ll see that he thinks his work in Fight Club and Zodiac was so much more deserving of the win (as are these movies) and who could disagree?

      • Nick

I loved The Social Network, but I will agree that Zodiac was even more deserving of awards attention. I can’t believe it was completely snubbed by the Oscars.

    • Alex

      Yep defiantly overrated.
