Image Credit: Jojo WhildenSix years ago, Amy Adams was a little-known actress with a resume dotted with bit parts. Then came the indie Junebug, for which she was nominated for an Oscar, and her career quickly changed. With her salty performance as Micky Ward’s girlfriend in The Fighter, Adams nabbed her third nomination (following 2008′s Doubt) — capping a five-year run that landed her on the A-list. “I didn’t even think I’d ever have a national commercial, let alone three Oscar nominations,” says the 36-year-old actress. “It is insane. I don’t know exactly how I got here but I feel really fortunate to be here. And it’s a historic day because Christian Bale got nominated, finally.”
Though she played a princess in Enchanted, Adams isn’t opposed to a little boasting about her good fortune. “I am going to spend the day with the Muppets,” says Adams, who’s currently co-starring in Jason Segel’s project. “And I am going to gloat to Miss Piggy.”

While Leo deserves it as well, am pulling for Adams, a great star on the rise and the Academy does love actors who play against type. Either way, good to see her back in the race again.

Leo and Bale are fantastic in The Fighter there is no denying that. But I find myself really pulling for Adams taking the Oscar this year, and not because its her third nom, but because I think she really did something special in the Fighter. I found her emotionally unrecognizable in this film, it was a performance that was unflinching and that I had no idea she was capable of.
Well put. Couldn’t agree with you more. I’m hoping for an Oscar upset with her walking away with the gold.

It’s not at the calibre of THE FIGHTER, but she also could well have been nominated for Supporting Actress for MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY. If you haven’t seen it, she and Frances McDormand are charming and adorable.
Is it wrong that her performance disagreed with me? I understand the acclaim Bale and Leo are getting but I just didn’t think her performance was Oscar worthy.
However, I am happy that she’s received critical acclaim.
I disagree with you. I liked Leo, but i she was more over the top. and more predictable. Adams was soulful and “salty”. Pluse go watch “Junebug” and look me in the eyes and tell me that snore Rachel Weisz deserved to win over her.
Remember her in DROP DEAD GORGEOUS??
Remember her as Tara’s cousin in one episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
And the woman cursed with bad luck in one episode of ‘Charmed’?
Remember her in The Office, She Was Jim’s girlfriend in the 1st/2nd season
And the hot girl that sells purses in The Office…Jim dated her briefly.
You beat me, Jon.
The rich girl that made out with Hyde but wouldn’t admit it when her friends were around on That ’70′s show.
And as the overweight girl in Smallville, who tried to eat Pete Ross?
I think you all missed the best/worst one of all: remember her in Cruel Intentions 2?!?!
And as Leo’s girlfriend in Catch Me if You Can!

I haven’t seen The Fighter however, I thought Mark Walberg was in it not Leo. Am I wrong?
Melissa Leo is what people are referring to, not Leonardo DiCaprio
I think Amy is fabulous. She was also in a little seen movie, Miss Pettigrew.
Love Love Loved Enchanted. Amy, you go girl!
Many people felt Amy get lucky on her second Oscar nomiantion for “Doubt” because Kate Winslet’s role in “The Reader” was considered a lead role, but that was not true. If anyone got lucky that year it was Taraji P. Henson. She wasn’t nominated at either the Golden Globes or the BAFTAs. Amy also got a BAFTA nomination that year over Viola Davis, who many critics thought was better than Amy.
This girl is amazing. Seems so down to earth and genuine! Go AMY!
Cruel Intentions 2! A classic of the straight-to-video sequel.
Go Amy!! I hope you win girl! She deserved Oscar nom for Enchanted and Sunshine Cleaning. Please give her the Oscar!!
I am pulling for Adams over Leo. A girl can dream!

I too am pulling for Amy Adams. I think she is a talented actress that works just as well with cartoon characters as she does with real humans. She honestly lights up the screen.
