You wouldn’t really know it watching the new trailer for Elektra Luxx — about a former porn star (Carla Gugino) pulled into a comedy of errors surrounding her late ex-lover — but the film is actually a sequel to the 2009 film Women in Trouble. Never heard of Women in Trouble? You’re not alone: The ensemble dramedy was released into only three theaters, grossing just north of $18,000 during its two-week run. And yet much of the first film’s impressive cast — Gugino, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adrianne Palicki, Marley Shelton — are returning for this sequel. Because, why not? Judging from the bonus clip from Women in Trouble embedded after the Elektra Luxx trailer, they sure had a lot of fun:

Saw the original – didn’t think much of it, shame as it was a superb cast.
It’s going to be a trilogy! I’ve watched both films and loved them. Carla Gugino is amazing. You can really see that she loves what she does.
