You for got the Fear & Loathing psychedelic references — Hilarious! This movie was great. I saw it twice in the southern suburbs: one audience got it and laughed and loved it & the 2nd audience had a LOT of small children in it and the concepts were just too adult for them ((and the parents it seemed…) but they laughed at the animated slapstick.
This ain’t Disney. folks — you need to read more…

Not for kids. I was shocked by the theme and language. Made me realize how much we have lost the protection of our children as we set there in a theater full of children and not one parent took a child out during the movie. If our kids were still young I would have left and protected them from this.

Oh my gosh thank you for posting this! I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I took my kids out I was so disgusted with it

I don’t know if I want to watch Rango anymore. If I watch it I would need to take my 4 year old brother. Is it really that bad?

    • Madison

Yeah. It actually is that bad for a four year old. My family went to go see it with my three year old brother and we had to leave because of the language.

I guess I’ll just netflix it or something. Sucks cause the trailers made it look so good.

Rango was up there on my worst movies I ever saw list… I thought the use of all that dark (creepy) and symbolic imagery, the attempt to revisit old-style Westerns, all while throwing in the search for the meaning of life was just a bit much. It seemed to me that someone was trying just a little too hard to be “deep” and artistic, and missed the mark on actually making it enjoyable. (If you have children, please note that some of the images and subject are scary as heck for children. This is not a kid’s movie.) Overall, I thought it was just awful – arduous tripe.

I can only go by my personal rating system – “Rango” was the first movie since “Avatar” where my 9-year old DIDN’T need to go to the bathroom halfway through!

Loved the movie, watched it with my grown kids and my 8 year old.Are we all talking about the same movie? We loved Rango!!!!!

  • Donna

I don’t like taking my 8 year old daughter to a “kids movie”, when the language is bad. What was the positive message?

    • Donna

      Love Depp, but not Rango!

Warning to all who are considering seeing Rango – DON’T! I saw it today with my two sons (4 and 10). Even they thought it was terrible. While the animation is great, the storyline is old and the pacing was remarkably slow. When it finally ended, I couldn’t get up and out of the theater fast enough. It may have had a good first weekend at the box office, but wait until word of mouth gets around. This movie is dead in the water.

Impressive considering how freaking boring this movie is. I don’t think I’ve ever almost walked out of a film due to boredom.

The trailer is awesome but I wouldn’t recommend this movie. I was expecting more action, more comedy, more everything. The trailer has all the funny moments from the movie.

Are you still collecting stoole samples from your mother because your full of it.

It’s odd.. I HATE CGI films… all of them and their sequels with the exception of the Pixar films.. and even those are starting to make me agitated.

This is the first CGI movie in YEARS I have wanted to see.. that I have not been annoyed at the idea..and I don’t even like Johnny Depp.

I think people are far too jaded to look at the bigger picture.

I was so disgusted with this movie I took my kids and walked out an 45 mins into it. Rango asks if barbies boobs are real, there is reference to breasts as mangoes, prostate exams, smoking, passed out drunk animals, brothel women barely in their clothes and reference to his mother sleeping around. This was only rated PG and it’s a “family movie”? My family no longer supports the film industry

  • JC

    It was a cute movie!!!

I saw Rango this weekend and thought it was slow. I would give it a B though. There were some very funny scenes but it was not what I expected. Some of the animals were creepy which shouldnt matter but it did..it made it hard to really care about the characters. I do have to say Johnny Depp did a fantastic job!

Don’t waste your $, time, and don’t let your kids see it.
