'Super 8': Full trailer offers more hints, more confusion

After a month of sifting through the 30-second Super 8 teaser that played during the Super Bowl, J.J. Abrams has revealed a teensy bit more of his mysterious sci-fi maybe-alien-invasion Spielberg homage. The first full trailer for Super 8 has hit the internet. As you might expect, it doesn’t really give many hints about the thing that punches out of an overturned train car. But you do learn a little bit more about the main character, a Spielberg-ish kid protagonist with an emotionally distant father (Kyle Chandler) and posse of friends who enjoy biking and filmmaking. In the wake of an explosive train crash, mysterious things start happening around town — people start to disappear, the military rolls into town, and most eerily of all, all the town’s dogs run away. Otherwise, you’ve got lots of enigmatic shots of devastation and explosion — all set to music that sounds like Michael Giacchino channeling John Williams, which is more or less what heaven sounds like. Check out the trailer after the jump…

Very intriguing. Definitely want to see this. It has a Cloverfield vibe to it, but with kids.

I think Abrams is a great director plus I love Kyle Chandler, so this should be the bomb shizzle

This is my movie of the summer. JJ Abrams has not made a bad movie yet.

Stand By Me, Cloverfield should be the new title.

Cloverfield had such an amazing trailer but sucked so this amazing trailer doesn’t really bode well. J.J. Abrams is the new M. Night Shyamalan: the master of high expectations followed by huge let-downs.

Has anyone understand what’s going on in the bedroom, that scene where an object seem to fly and then there is a shot and I don’t understand what it’s showing…

I was thinking the same thing! You can see some kind of dog or something up in the hill thru the whole from the room. Ive look at it 20 times with no success of figuring it out! I guess thats exactly what they wanted with this trailer. Cant wait for the movie!

  • Ben

    sorry, has anyone understood ^^
