Werner Herzog's 'Cave of Forgotten Dreams' trailer: A good 3D movie at last?

Werner Herzog is used to pulling off incredible feats of strength. For Fitzcarraldo, he pulled a steamship over a steep hillside. He also ate his own shoe, rescued Joaquin Phoenix from a car wreck, and somehow managed to make a good Nicolas Cage movie. His next trick may be his most impressive yet. Cave of Forgotten Dreams is a documentary about the Chauvet Cave in France, which contains the oldest-known human paintings in the world. Herzog opted to film the cave paintings using 3D, a technology which has considerably lost favor in the last year. In the just-released American trailer for the film, Herzog sounds extremely Herzog-ian — “It is as if the modern human soul had awakened here,” he notes, in a tone that suggests weary omniscience.
