Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges circling 'The Seventh Son'

Moore-and-Bridges

Last time Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges graced the screen together, they made cinematic history. No, I’m not being fatuous. Their courtship in The Big Lebowski wasn’t the most romantic of screen pairings, but it epitomized the daffy tenor of the Coen brothers’ cult comedy.

Moore’s rep now confirms to EW a Bloody Disgusting report that the four-time Oscar nominee will play a most dangerous 1700’s witch in The Seventh Son, and Bridges is currently in talks to play an experienced exorcist. Sadly, I suspect there will not be bowling, though I’m holding out hope that 18th-century witches wore vikings helmets. Get in the mood for their possible reunion with a brief glimpse of their previous encounter:

I absolutely love the Joseph Delaney books. I like these actors a lot, but I have a little trouble imagining Julianne Moore as Mother Malkin. I’d have thought her a good choice to play Tom Ward’s mother, but that’s a very small role in the first few books. I can see Jeff Bridges as the Spook–and that’s what he is in the books–I think using the term “exorcist” is incorrect and sensational. I’m quite glad though that Alex Pettyfer won’t be Tom–doesn’t look a thing like I imagined, he’s too old besides.

Sounds good to me, the books were amazing. I think Jeff Bridges is a great choice for the Spook and I think Julianne Moore could be great as Mother Malkin. I’m ecstatic that Alex Pettyfer won’t be Tom also.

The books are called LAST APPRENTICE in the U.S. Who’s going to play Grimalkin, the witch assassin?

These are my favorite of the ‘teen books’. They are fantastic. Julianne Moore is perfect casting as is Jeff Bridges. I’m also excited for Sam Claflin as Tom. He very much looks the part. Can’t wait!!!
