Barbra Streisand released a statement about the passing of her friend Elizabeth Taylor, who died this morning. “It’s the end of an era. It wasn’t just her beauty or her stardom. It was her humanitarianism. She put a face on HIV/AIDS. She was funny. She was generous. She made her life count.”

It won’t be long for you, too, Babs.
If Babs only gave half of her money or time to charity like Liz did, I would believe this statement.
Streisand has been very low-key about her humanitarian efforts. To date, she has personally raised $25 million for organizations through her live performances. The Streisand Foundation, which she founded in 1986, has contributed over $16 million through nearly 1,000 grants to “national organizations working on preservation of the environment, voter education, the protection of civil liberties and civil rights, women’s issues and nuclear disarmament.” In 2006, Streisand donated $1 million to the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation in support of former President Bill Clinton’s climate change initiative. In 2008, Streisand gifted $5 million to endow the Barbra Streisand Women’s Cardiovascular Research and Education Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Women’s Heart Center. In September that year, Parade magazine included Streisand on their Giving Back Fund’s second annual Giving Back 30 survey, “a ranking of the celebrities who have made the largest donations to charity in 2007 according to public records”, as the third most generous celebrity. The Giving Back Fund claimed Streisand donated $11 million, which The Streisand Foundation distributed. At Julien’s Auctions in October 2009, Streisand, a long-time collector of art and furniture, sold 526 items with all the proceeds going to her foundation.
Last February, the Grammys honored her with the MusiCares Person of the Year award, partly because of her humanitarian efforts.
She DOES you big dope!
You’re an idiot. How old are you? 12? 13? Barbra looks great and I’m sure feels just fine. Go get a life.
WOW so much HATE in the first two comments to show up on my screen…before you type comments you seriouly need to get your facts straight…SHAME ON YOU FOR BEING SO HATEFUL
WOW so much HATE in the first two comments to show up on my screen…before you type comments you seriously need to get your facts straight…SHAME ON YOU FOR BEING SO HATEFUL
Ignore the ill informed and immature posts above. Streisand may well be 69 next month, but she appears to be in excellent health. Moreover, Streisand gives many millions of dollars to many different types of organizations. No, she does not have “one cause” – she has many… whether it is Cardiovascular Research for Women, HIV/AIDS, civil rights, the environment etc. They were friends for decades and for anyone to use this opportunity to attack someone for having kind words for their recently friends says far more about the person making the hateful comments than who they are commenting about. Seriously, grow up. Rest in peace Liz, you left the world a better place.
Elizabeth Taylor was the most beautiful women in film ever.RIP
Stupid misinformed comments like the one from Chantal makes me crazy! Barbra Streisand is very philanthropic and is known for her generosity and support of multiple charities and foundations.
I concur.
Thanks again an eye to the blog. Awesome.
