We now know that Jennifer Lawrence will play Katniss Everdeen, but all the fan anticipation and hand-wringing over who would/should/could be cast in Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games might remind you of a time way back when (or, 2008) when there was a similar frenzy over the casting of Twilight. When EW recently sat down with Robert Pattinson, we asked the 24-year-old actor if he was familiar with the YA world’s latest obsession.
“I sort of came across it last year, and I didn’t realize it was the most enormous thing in the year,” says Pattinson. “It’s good! It will be a good movie.” As to whether or not he’d ever consider acting in another big franchise, Pattinson says he would. “But I’d want to have more input. The only horrible thing about being part of a franchise…well, not horrible…no, it is horrible…is that the bigger and bigger you get, it’s quite difficult to break out of stuff. When you’ve been playing the same part, you can’t suddenly start playing it differently. It takes away a little bit of the creative kind of … urge.”

It’s SOOO good. You should read the books. And I am confident the movie will be about a million times better than Twilight….but what isn’t? Ha.
I’m not sure Pattinson should be a good judge in what’s good and not. Twilight is horrible.
I agree, Katie. I read all 3 books with my 8th grade son. Each book’s content gets heavier, kind of like the Harry Potter books getting darker and darker. I found the end of the third book sad, but very powerful and very good. I’m really looking forward to the movie.

I think people are making fun of EW for running this as a separate story (or they should be, anyway), not necessarily making fun of Pattinson for answering the question. It’s EW who looks dumb here, not him.

@Not a Jerk- I agree with you here. All this Rob Pattinson hate comes from the anti-twilight crowd. Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely not a fan of the series, but so much of this crap is people jumping on the hate bandwagon. Saying he sucks based on one franchise is ignorant. I’m of the opinion that he’s more talented than Twilight allows him to be. But in the end, to each their own….

I should prefaced this by stating that I’m not a Twilight fan but I’m not a Twilight hater either. In general i’m indifferent towards it and haven’t even read the books. But just to respond to your comment about Pattinson being more talented than Twilight allows him to be, well i respect your opinion but mine is this: i’ve watched his other non-twilight films (Dali, Water for Elephants, Remember me) and let’s just say that his acting skills are… limited to say the least.

If it’s for teenagers, then why do so many adult women get into it? What’s their excuse? Either they’re drooling over something meant for their teenage daughters, or Twilight is actually an “adult” story and can be critiqued as such. Make up your minds.

I read on Vanity Fair that Jennifer Lawrence has the biggest crush on Pattinson. Hope he grows a pair and asks her out. She’s beautiful and very talented. He should call her manager.
