For those who took to Joseph Gordon-Levitt as lovesick sap in (500) Days of Summer or a debonair dream stealer in Inception, leave your expectations for flawless three-piece suits and impromptu Hall & Oates performances at home. Levitt’s latest character goes the unkempt route, and is partial to fire, cigarettes, and general shirtlessness (and pantslessness). In Spencer Susser’s Hesher, which premiered at Sundance last year, the title character is a loner who strikes an unlikely bond with young, depressed TJ (Devin Brochu) and subsequently, Nicole (Natalie Portman), who despite her small frame, is ready to throw down. (Sorry, but Portman will never look homely no matter how big her glasses are.)
Check out the trailer below, if only to move to step closer to seeing all five of the Oscar winner’s 2011 films. And because of Rainn Wilson.

This movie looks great. I’ve been hearing about it since last year. I hope it comes to theatres soon. I have a feeling it will be Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s best role since Mysterious Skin (I also loved 500 Days Of Summer):)
