The trailer for Passion Play, the noir-ish indie featuring Megan Fox as a winged circus curiosity, Mickey Rourke as the washed-up trumpet player who falls for her, and Bill Murray as a gangster named Happy, has hit the Web. The question is: Is it the kind of strange that makes you want to see it when it hits theaters in New York and L.A. on May 6 (before heading to DVD on May 31), or is it the kind of strange that makes you hope one of your friends will sit through it and fill you in instead? This is a movie that got panned at 2010′s Toronto Film Festival, but also one that inspired Rourke to call Fox “probably the best young actress I’ve ever worked with.” Watch the trailer below — which erroneously declares Rourke to be an “Academy Award winner” (er, Sean Penn may have something to say about that) — and begin to decide.

Mickey Rourke talks Passion Play, and Megan Fox, ‘probably the best young actress I’ve ever worked with’
Megan Fox’s Passion Play will get theatrical release: See the poster here!

I wonder if Fox and Rourke exchanged plastic surgery tips and secrets during the shoot.
Really Mickey? Best young actress you have ever worked with? Those head injuries must have been worse than we ever thot…
It might be true considering he hasnt worked with many/any of what are considered today’s top YOUNG actresses. Megan Fox when compared with absolutely nothing probably does seem pretty good.
He did work with Evan Rachel Wood in the fighter, she definitely qualifies as a “young actress” and she’s infinitely better than Megan Fox
Looking into it from the trailer point of view alone, both MEGAN FOX and BILL MURRAY – no hatred here – seem a weakest link in general. But MEGAN is almost doubtless the prettiest circus curiosity in the world while BILL MURRAY looks more like a retired college professor.

Speaking for myself, the trailer’s failed to impress me, but I’ll watch it, ironically, for MEGAN FOX; this is personally a once-in-a-Japanese-blue-moon case of me checking out a flick for its style and stars (a star, in terms of being HOT; talking about MEGAN FOX). . .

. . . on DVD (strictly for rent only).

Thanks for the up, anyway.
This looks stupid… I’ll pass.
I was in that disastrous screening in Toronto. There were people already walking out before the latecomers had started coming in.
The movie’s just a mess. It’s not good, but it’s not bad enough to be ironically funny. Murray is horribly miscast.
Renton, thanks for the cautionary tale. Even briefly in the trailer, MURRAY looks already out of place, IMO.
Wait. Her wings are real? What is this, some kind of X-Men prequel?
