'Cowboys & Aliens' trailer: Aliens, Olivia Wilde, and Daniel Craig's abs!

Talk about a captive audience. While America squirmed on their sofas waiting to see who would be sent home on American Idol, Universal took the opportunity to unveil their latest trailer for this summer’s Old West popcorn mash-up, Cowboys & Aliens. The two-and-a-half-minute clip kicked off much like the previous trailer for the Daniel Craig/Harrison Ford flick, but ended up showing us more action, more aliens, more Olivia Wilde, and, oh yeah, a heapin’ helpin’ of Daniel Craig’s sweaty, shirtless chest. Yee-haw!

For those not particularly interested in 007′s abs, the highlight of the clip was several abduction scenes, where alien spaceships suck cowboys up into the sky with their tentacles or lassos or whatever. We also get to see one of the alien ships that crash-landed in the desert, a bunch of Michael Bay-like fireball explosions, more insight into what Craig’s futuristic, high-tech bracelet gizmo does, and a grizzled Harrison Ford shouting, “They’ve got my son!”

Check out the clip below:

How do you know? Can you see the future?

Ummm…yeah. Right. The list of stars and the awesome special effects will get this movie a hundred million alone. If you think it’s gonna bomb, I’ve got beach front property in Montana I’d like to sell you.

I think Daniel Craig was a last minute replacement for RDJ, not too shabby at all.

    • octopus

      …and RDJ is…

      • S.O.

        Robert Downey Jr.

I think,Olivia Wilde looks beautiful in this clip. She did a terrific job in Tron: Legacy and I think this movie has a phenomonal cast.

You had me at “Daniel Craig’s abs.”

    • Kristina

      Me too!

I like Daniel Craig and think Olivia Wilde is hot, but while Harrison Ford hasn’t really been interesting in a movie in at least a decade (I don’t hate him; like De Niro, he just doesn’t try very hard anymore), the filmmakers make up for him with the always welcome Sam Rockwell.

I will see anything and everthing with Jon Favreau’s name attached to it.

eeeeeeek!!! I cannot wait, I think this will be a top movie of the year, it has the building for it, if its truly good word of mouth will push it through the summer. I think this is the summers sleeper hit, im just saying not screaming at me ok!!!

  • Pete

SPOILER (?): Is it just me, or was the “my people” remark a certain character made simply way too spoilerific for a trailer?

    • Kat

I think the mention of “my people” is either a nod to the character being American Indian OR it may be a nod to some mythology but not too Spoiler-y, just enticing

As I have watched American Idol exactly once (to see who this Sanjaya character was), I couldn’t care less about whom they voted off. Not all of America likes that show, you know. However, I do like Daniel Craig, and I’ve loved Harrison Ford since Star Wars.
