'X-Men: First Class': New trailer features more special effects, more Magneto

The new international trailer for X-Men: First Class isn’t much different, in outline, from the first video. The opening 30 seconds are identical — “Before he was Magneto,” etc etc. Everything else is still mostly a blur of mutant action. (John F. Kennedy doesn’t make an appearance; apparently, the Fox marketing team doesn’t think Cold War nostalgia will play in Guangzhou.) But look closely, and the new preview features a whole assortment of new (and presumably just-finished) special effects shots, including Magneto holding back a whole battalion of missiles and much more of The Red Nightcrawler-y Guy Nobody Knows (a.k.a. Azazel.) There’s also a brief, retro-chic look at a Dr. Strangelove-esque war room and a teasing hint at the actual plot of First Class: “Tomorrow, mankind will know that mutants exist.” It’s not much, but considering what a tight lid Fox is keeping on this mutant preboot, it makes for intriguing viewing. Check out the trailer after the jump…

No, no and no. I’m high and this movie still looks like crap! HAPPY 420!!! =)

      • Brett

Me2! Happy 420! And yes, even high, this movie looks and smells like… a stinker. They should have went with the real First Class of Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman and Angel.

        LOL, Love it!!!

X-Men: First Class will not apparently be the definitive depiction of the Hellfire Club as they do not seem to have included anyone apart from Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost. As it stands it will only be them and a bunch of nameless henchmen in the film. They should have included Harry Leland, Donald Pierce, Tessa and Selene.

Good for him. Spread the word. Internet is a powerful tool that the Studios fear. They would rather have us accept their lies and deception and give up our hard earned money for garbage.

X-Men First Class looks like a direct to dvd film. I will PASS.

      • Monty

I see what you did there…well played, sir.

        Hey Monte,

I have been browsing loinne more than three hours as of late, yet I by no means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It’s pretty price sufficient for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the internet will probably be a lot more helpful than ever before. Dignity is not negotiable. OMG, that is the most hilariously wrong comment I’ve ever read on here.

      • Mrs. Crabtree

They should teach X-Men in school. Serena would get an A.

    • Teri

You can totally sing that list to the tune of REM’s “It’s the end of the world as we know it” song.

    • Brett

So, you copy and pasted the whole list from the X-Men on Wikipedia?

    • Hestiv

I have been exploring for a llitte for any high-quality articles or weblog posts in this kind of house . Exploring in Yahoo I finally stumbled upon this site. Reading this information So i’m satisfied to exhibit that I’ve a very excellent uncanny feeling I found out exactly what I needed. I such a lot unquestionably will make sure to don’t overlook this website and provides it a glance regularly.

  • UGH

Weird thing is Xavier is/will be bald and Magneto is the one with the receding hairline.

    • Chaz Winterbottom

That’s intentional. The movie’s an origin story. It’s about how their hair changed over the years.

      • PennyBeGood

        Chaz,

        You, sir, made my day.

      • Hogarth

Fortunately, this film is set in the 1960s, before Xavier’s perm debacle of the ’70s.

    • Chelsea

      What receding hairline?

  • KC

I like how FOX takes a huge smelly dump on Marvel’s characters and people actually buy tickets to see them. I wish the rights to all of their characters would revert back to Marvel.

    • mandy

Agreed. This movie looks like trash.

      • Matt1

Thank You! Why are people praising these trailers!? Every photo and trailer I see for this looks like total garbage! And btw… Matthew Vaughn SUCKS as a director!

      • Monty

Vaughn is a great director. All of his movies have been great. Blockbusters? no, but great movies nevertheless.
        Exhibit A: Layer Cake
        Exhibit B: Stardust
        Exhibit C: Kick-Ass

    • the world

The rights still belong to Marvel(Disney now), but FOX has paid for the licence to use the characters in movies. But Marvel didn’t like how the production of the original X-Men, Daredevil, Punisher, etc.. movies were done, so they created their own movie studio and made Iron Man as their own movie, which has lead to the upcoming Avengers

      • Monty

Marvel owns the characters and are paid every time they are used, but Fox currently has the License to make the movies, which means Marvel has to wait until they lapse or buy them out.

    • Kathy

Like FOX, I, too, enjoy the occasional huge smelly dump.

    • Valentina

Chris should have won. The plpeoe who watched his audition LOVED Young Homey and Chris sang it himself. Chris is so special. He will be bigger than anyone. LOVE LIFE and may the LORD shine the light on all of us.

  • GeeMoney

Boo. X-Men 3 may have sucked big time, but there was no need for a reboot this soon. I’ll wait for it on DVD.

    • Monty

Its not really a reboot, its a prequel. It still exists in the same world as all of the other X-men movies. They will be making an X 4 and 5 if this is successful…which is a bit unfortunate because they really did screw the pooch with X3…

    • Tarc

      It’s not a reboot, it’s a prequel moron.

      • the world

it’s still a reboot! all new actors, new director, new direction, new storyline!

  • Morgan

More Magneto, more Michael Fassbander. Please and thank you.

    • Chelsea

      yes and yes

      • Brett

        No and no.

  • A

There’s an upsetting lack of Rose Byrne in this trailer.

    • michelle

As well as an unsettling abundance of dampness in my pantaloons.

  • T

If Mystique was in this prequel, and is about 20-something in the era set in the Swingin ’60s ?
Then, by the time of the X-Men movie (2000) how old is she ?
She looks pretty good for a woman of sixty by the X-Men trilogy movies.

  • Buddymoore

I’m just glad this trailer turned out better than that thing they called a poster that was released yesterday.

  • Yul Espinosa

This movie is a HUGE mistake!! They should have started over with the REAL First Class. The timelines are all wrong but FOX like usual screws up all the Marvel characters.

  • tresorparis
