Another day, another Hunger Games casting notice: Just one day after Elizabeth Banks tweeted that she will indeed play Effie Trinket in the adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ dystopian novel, Lionsgate has revealed the identity of the actors playing the Hunger Games’ District 5 tributes. Jacqueline Emerson is set for Foxface, the sly and clever tribute who never speaks a single word in the book. Like the other tributes cast in the film — with the exception of Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) — Emerson is an unknown actress for most audiences, having only voiced a role in 2004′s Father of the Pride TV series.
Chris Mark — an actor with a stunt work background who has also had roles in projects like The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emporer and Unnatural History — has been cast as Foxface’s fellow District 5 tribute, who goes unnamed in the book. Emerson and Mark joins Lawrence, Hutcherson, Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Paula Malcomson, and Willow Shields in the film, directed by Gary Ross.

Actually John C. Riley was confirmed as Haymitch a couple days ago. Its possible as now a rumor that Lenny Kravitz will be Cinna.Or has some part in the movie.
JCR hasn’t offically been confirmed by Lionsgate. But every cast leak has been 100% true, so it will be JCR.
Lenny Kravitz is rumored to be playing Cinna’s assistant, with Stanley Tucci(!!!!!!!!!) reportedly having been offered Cinna. We’ll find out soon, since shooting is supposed to start in late May.
Oh, and did I mention Stanley FREAKING Tucci?!?!?!?!??

I don’t know if it’s necessarily that Katniss isn’t bhrgit enough. It seems that way to us because it’s a lot more obvious to us that something is going on. For Katniss, she’s been thrown into a game where she has to MURDER people to live. She’s already lived through it once. She’s immensely damaged from being manipulated in this way. So is her first thought going to be, “oh, maybe the people of the Capitol are trying to help me? Or maybe Haymitch, who I expect more than anyone to be straight with me at this point, actually has a super secret agenda which he didn’t really ever reveal to me in any way at all?” I think the fact that she didn’t see all the signs is perfectly legitimate, and is no reflection on her intelligence. I don’t think I could have done any better in her place. Plus, no one ever even gives her a chance to prove that she can do it. They all assume she’s a liability when she’s the one who has managed all this time to keep herself alive and help others in the process. I just think it’s all a little bogus. Of course, I’m talking about the characters’ behavior in the story, not the writing or the story itself. That was all pretty well done, except for that giant info dump in the last chapter.
I have never seen this kind of press for the casting of a movie. Does this warrant an EW mention? Really? I love the book, plan to see the movie, but really.
Why not. It actually almost echoes the books. Except that it is over many days rather than a few hours.

Actually, yeah, it does. These may be minor parts, but the concept of the tributes is the driving force of the book. So its important to fans.

Casting for HP is always quite low-key though. There’s never really any announcements until they cast everyone. Or the actor/actress lets it slip in an interview.
The only time it was “hubbub” was when they cast the trio (there was a freakin’ press conference) and some of the bigger roles like Snape, Sirius, and Dumbledore.

John c reilly would be absolutely terrible for Haymitch! Clearly Haymitch is a drunk most of the time, but we all know how how cunning/athletic/smart he REALLY is. plus he was supposed to be very attractive when he was in the games and back in the day. so noo john c reilly i hope!
Haymitch may have been good looking when he was in the Games but Katniss makes a point of saying how ugly and out of shape he’s become. It shocks me that people are suggesting people like RDJ and Hugh Laurie?! Have they even read the book? And what ugly people can’t be smart and cunning?!
Haymitch is not athletic now. He’s out of shape from being drunk for 25 years, understandably. John C. Reilly will be PERFECT. He is a great dramatic actor (even though people think of his comedies now) but can also bring the comedic and physical comedy to Haymitch. He will be perfect.
RDJ, Hugh Laurie, Johnny Depp wishlist was absurd.
I still think they should’ve gone for Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who would have the roughness and broken down quality and yet hint at the older athleticism and handsomeness.
John C. Riley is an amazing actor. It’s really hard to see his worth when he’s stuck in a Will Ferrell movie. Unlike Ferrell, who plays the same character again and again, Riley can actually develop a character separate from other roles. He really is very talented.

I really like the supporting cast so far but I’m not really feeling the casting for Katniss and Peeta.
i was looking forward to seeing who foxface was going to be, but now i am kind of upset with the choice for her. i dont know what it is she doesnt look sneeky and her face is like really wide! anyhow i love all of the choices for the other people though especially haymitch

Before I say annyhitg else, I have to get this out: THIS. PICTURE. IS. SASSY.Okay, no that that’s out here’s my opinion that I probably will be second guessing seconds after I click the summit comment button. This is probably right before or right after the interviews considering how all of them are dressed. They’re probably either discussing plans for the interview, Katniss, Katniss, or Katniss. Maybe some strategy in there as well which sounds VERY likely.I’m super excited as I’m guessing most are, I can’t wait to see the books brought to life on the screen and not only in my imagination!
ooo I like the idea of Jeffrey Dean Morgan for Haymitch although my heart still lies with Hugh Laurie for this part. I really hope John C. Reilly isnt cast in this role!
