Talk about good timing. President Barack Obama’s May 1 announcement that the U.S. had killed Osama bin Laden is easily the biggest story of the year, and as luck would have it, EW has confirmed that since 2008, The Hurt Locker’s Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal have been working on a film version of a book called Kill Bin Laden. They were so far along, in fact, the duo were looking to shoot their film this summer with independent financing from Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures. They still plan to move forward, but while the book details the failed attempt to take out the Al Qaeda leader in the Dec. 2001 battle of Tora Bora in Afghanistan, the script will now likely change to include a much more triumphant (and Hollywood friendly) ending.

well, if anyone could do it right, Kathryn Bigelow would be that person. someone’s going to do it and soon, so at least if she did it, it would be *good*

Bigelow is one of the right choices I feel. Do let’s hope the film won’t wind up an action flick strategically glorifying some big stars ’cause that would be such a waste.

Exactly, I trust Bigelow and she practically lustered the brilliance that is Jeremy Renner.
Look at what she did with ‘The Hurt Locker’ , i’m sure this will be a success as well
They should obviously scrap the movie. No one cares about Tora Bora anymore and therefore will be uninterested in the movie. It would be like making a movie about the first WTC bombing.
Mark Boal should take a cue from his mom Kat and go for light pink lipstick. That ghetto pink he favors is so 2005.

i think the govt is acting like punks! forget the fact that they were streaming videos of three beheadings of innocent people in the early 2000′s, and the fact that they were shooting in the air and partying in the streets after 9/11…if they had the chance to kill bush or obama they would have beheaded them and put their heads on a stake and showed it all over via the media. who cares about their feelings? show the darn picture and stop worring about hurting feelings!!!
