Famished for more Hunger Games casting? Well, look no further: Lionsgate announced on the adaptation’s Facebook page the identities of the film’s District 10 tributes. Jeremy Marinas has been cast as the unnamed quiet boy from District 10, whose most notable characteristic is his limp. Dakota Hood has been cast as the District’s unnamed female tribute.
Marinas, like many other Hunger Games tributes, has performed stunt work, for the likes of The Green Hornet and the Sherlock Holmes sequel. He’s also had roles in series like Mortal Kombat: Legacy and The LXD: The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, and even had a bit part on Community. Hood has only one credit to her name: The 2007 movie Scripture Cake: A Southern Cuisine Movie. Marinas and Hood join Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Paula Malcomson, Willow Shields, and several relatively unknown actors playing fellow tributes. Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross and adapted from Suzanne Collins’ dystopian novel, will be in theaters March 23, 2012.

interesting enough, although i wish suzanne would have named these characters, all well. the cast so far is sooo amazing i am excited for the movie!!!!
You’re looking at this the wrong way. Why name extras? I’ve never seen a movie given such attention to extras and unnamed characters before. I like the books, but I never gave a second thought to the red-shirts. The only remaining interesting parts are Hammitch, Snow, and Cinna.
I wouldn’t consider them extras. I think they may focus on everything that’s going on in the arena, so we will see more of the goings on (and deaths) of the tributes – not just follow Katniss all the time. They’re using thousands of extras in the film for crowd scenes, but I certainly don’t consider the tributes as extras.

So why are all the tribute castings being pulled from asian stunt men? And are they supposed to be present in every district? The race mix for the film adaptation of this futuristic fantasy world is still…quite racist.
It doesn’t really even matter to me anymore anyway. I’ve lost almost all fan excitement for the film since the leads were so “strategically” and artlessly cast.
There are only three or four, there are a lot more white people.

And what does this franchise have against Latino actors? Surely SOME of the tributes were Latin? Am I crazy?
A good chance Stephanie Hunts getting a part. She is auditioning for this. I liked her as Johanna. Maybe she will get Clove though. She is friends with Zoe Kravitz. She backup sings and plays bass in her Queens of Dogtown band. If Lenny gets casted as Cinna or Flavius she might get Octavia.Stephanie is half Puerto Rician.
There were no latino/latina characters in the book.

If you look at all the tributes, I believe that some of them may be Latino. It’s hard to tell 100% in the headshots, but I don’t think they’re all white or asian.

I think they’ve done a great job releasing the casting news like this. It keeps all the “red shirts,” as someone called them above, from being simply the victims of background violence. Each one of them has a name and a face.
Reading the book, I didn’t feel that Collins went into too much description about a characters race. I didn’t even realize Rue was African American until the casting.
Anyway, it’s a while away, but I’m looking forward to the casting of Finnick for the next two books.
