Proving again that Dorothy Gale didn’t have a clue what she was talking about when she told Glinda that witches are old and ugly, EW can confirm a Variety report that Michelle Williams is in talks to play the good witch in Disney’s Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz, The Great and Powerful.
Williams, who recently earned her second Oscar nomination for her role in Blue Valentine, would join two other stunning non-hags, Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis, who would play sister witches destined for evil. James Franco is the wizard-to-be in the project, to be directed by Sam Raimi.

How can you call her underrated? She already has several Oscar nominations, SAG nominations, Golden Globe nominations and she is only 30 years old. That is recognition of her talent.
because to date she hasn’t really anchored anything that has been seen by the masses, and most people know her as Heath Ledgers Baby mama or her run on Dawson’s Creek. Sure, she’s been the queen of the indie scene, but she still hasn’t broken out in a blockbuster way.
the 4 of the are underrated. They’ve had a lot of critical acclaim, but haven’t opened a blockbuster film on their own. Franco has spiderman but he was not the lead. So he still has to prove himself to open a film solely on his name.
They are all fantastic actors though, Im excited to see them in this film!

So…is this supposed to be a non-musical version of Wicked? Or is this based on the collection of Baum’s stories? I’d love to see a movie version of Wicked…but if this gets made, i have a feeling that the movie of the musical will be nothing but a comparison piece.
This movie isn’t related to Wicked and as far as i know isn’t based on any book either.
this movie is not related to Wicked at all…she should be great though. I would def picture someone like her as Glinda, that inner glowing quality. And I agree, she is very underrated an actress.
Did Sam Raimi want HIlary Swank for the role of Glinda, and the studio wanted Michelle?…well the studio wins again. I dont know why Raimi thought that Swanl would be better for the role, she’s a great actress but I cant picture Swank as the witch, even if she is a good witch.
Who’s know if the rumors are true or not? Out of all the 200 plus articles William/Glinda, some say they were frighting over wicked witch, others say the good witch role. People needs to get their fact straight.
