Arnold Schwarzenegger putting Hollywood projects on hold to focus on 'personal matters'

Looks like Cry Macho, The Governator cartoon, and potential plans for another Terminator movie will have to wait awhile. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s lawyers have issued a statement announcing that, in the wake of his recent marital issues, the former governor of California will be concentrating on his personal life for a while, not on his acting career.

“At the request of Arnold Schwarzenegger, we asked Creative Artists Agency to inform all his motion picture projects currently underway or being negotiated to stop planning until further notice,” says the statement. “Governor Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines. This includes Cry Macho, The Terminator franchise and other projects under consideration. We will resume discussions when Governor Schwarzenegger decides.”

Damn it all to hell! We need AHNULD in the movies. And cartoons.

    • tom

and stupid comicbook scripts because we have no creativity left

  • Avie

The world get a reprieve from the Governator animated series and what is sure to be the worst of the Terminator films. I feel bad for his soon-to-be-ex-wife and kids, but this is a good thing.

  • DebY

Sorry guys, this is so overblown. The household staffer that worked for Maria and Arnold just retired after 20 years of service. Arnold and the staffer had an affair 11 years ago and the child is now 10 years old. Arnold has been paying child support. Do you really think Maria Shriver is just finding out about it? Really?
How obtuse could she possibly be?

Arnold should go forward with his movie career.

    • Yanni

I agree. I love the faux outrage that people have expressed over some personal mistake. Personally I would have been much more disappointed with him had he not claimed the child as his and not supported him.

      • boom boom boom

Let us know when your spouse of 25 years cheats on you; has a child and does so with a trusted member of the household. I am sure you will only express “faux outrage” during that time. But, one question. Even if Ms. Shriver knew about the affair and child 10 years ago, how does that make this “personal mistake” more palatable? If your spouse or partner decided to go out and have another family outside of the one oommitted to with you, I can assume you would be flippant about it?

      • @Yanni

“personal mistake”?!?!? Are you pretending his wife should not care or be upset that Arnie jeapoardized her (with the likelihood of unprotected sex) and have an “outside family”? As his wife isn’t she entitled to know about his “personal” life? You sound quite ludicrous.

    • nick

it is highly likely she knew and tolerated that he would mess around… but it is unlikely she knew and simply accepted that the woman working for her, living in her home, had a secret kid by him. no one would ever put up with that.

    • DebY is an idiot

You should seriously take a psychogical course based on your insane statemnt. You are blaming his wife for not knowing about his secret family! You are outrageous, offensive and clearly without a partner. If you do have one, he (or she) is quite the unluckiest person alive.

      • DebY

I did not blame his wife for his adultry. Arnold is 100% responsible for his own actions. I am just saying it happened 11 years ago and the child is now 10 years old. The staffer worked for them another 9 years after the child was born. Arnold DID take responsibility for the child and paid child support. I am saying if Maria did not know or suspect there was something going on with the woman that worked in her house for 20 years, she was extremely obtuse. Arnold has been known to be flirty and touchy gropy. That is nothing new and Maria Shriver is, and has been, very aware of this. It has been brought up before, especially when he was campaigning to be governor. Will Maria actually go through with a divorce? Who knows? The real losers in this whole mess is the illegitimate child and Maria & Arnold’s children.

    • @DebY

From this post I assume you are the type of lunatic that also excuses the behavior of rapists and domestic violence offenders. I suppose your next statement will be “he couldn’t help himself” or that “she wasn’t giving him what he needed”. Or no, mayhaps she should have been less trusting of her spouse of 25 years and just automatically assumed he was a liar and cheat? I mean, how could dumb could a long-time partner be?

      • DebY

How did you get to this point from my post? Excuse the behavior of rapists and domestic violence offenders? Really? How could one possibly take so much out of context?

        *massive eyeroll*

  • MAS

I had been looking forward to a new Terminator movie. Now I really hope it gets made without Arnold so I can see it. Just his name makes me feel sick.

    • Aw…

Grow a pair, okay? Do you know what the name is for someone who likes to watch killer cyborgs murder post-nuclear war humans, but can’t stomach the fact that the star had an affair? I’ll give you three guesses:

      1) Gutless wonder
      2) P*ssy
      3) Hypocrite-boi

And that’s “boi” with an “i

      • nick

you’re a dipsh*t, aw… that’s sh*t with an “*”. you fail to distinguish that one is entertaining fantasy, the other is a powerful guy willingly destroying the people closest to him.

  • So what?

First of all, stop calling him Governor. Second, his plastic surgery is terrible, he looks like an old transvestite now. Third, he screwed around like 95% of guys do. Get over it, you don’t know him, all he is to everyone is a celebrity. It doesn’t matter if he likes to stuff footballs up his behind every day to anyone but those closest to him and probably not even to them. He willingly destroys those closest to him? Please, like he is different from any other celebrity who gets bored from being treated like god for decades and has too much money. The only tangible thing to you or I is the celebrity crap he puts out such as his movies. You like him then watch his movies, you don’t then ignore his movies. Other than that I suggest you worry about your own lives instead of someone you will never even meet.

are the reason for the amoral abyss we are in today. “So What” and “Who Cares” are your responses for everything. For that reason you are sad and pathetic. Your commentary reflects your lack of compassion and simple decency. Good luck in leading your failed life.

  • deedeedragons

Isn’t he worth like half a billion dollars? Go buy an Island & leave us alone.

  • joe luck

Oh no! But there was a huge demand for the Governator! Why else would EW put him on the cover over Elizabeth Taylor?

  • Jodi

Didn’t EW do a big cover celebrating the gov.? Just askin’

  • TorontoTom

Has Dancing With The Stars signed up the mother of his love child yet??

Schwarzenegger:Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. You rock it will all workout just takes time. We all pray for ya peace

  • sherry

Once he was my favorite actor. I saw all of his movies. When he decide to run for election as governor, I suppoted him too. But this time, maybe I won’t.

  • Bowser

Really now statistically doesn’t the average american cheat on his/her spouse once. Why is this such a big deal? It not like he committed an actual crime. He made a mistake, everyone get past it.

  • NotAmerican

Maria Shriver is NOT a stupid lady. Even *I* knew that he was a “horny dawg” (from watching TV; viewing websites that were anti-”Amend the Constitution so Arnie Can Be President”… you know, hard to find, top secret info like that). So Maria lived with the housekeeper and Arnie’s kid – knowing damn well he was a azz-chaser, seeing monthly cheques go out with the memo “Child Support For Housekeeper Mistake”… and she had NO IDEA what was going on?? Right. Most marriages in the U.S. that last more than, say, 5 years (give or take) are people staying together for reasons other than “eternal love”. In this case it just happened to be an obvious reason – Arnie’s career. They agreed not to say anything until he was leaving office. And for anybody that thinks Arnie would try and hush up the affair(s), just remember this – I once saw Arnie speak at a big televised event for the Kennedys (Maria is a Kennedy, if y’all forgot), and Arnie’s speech was about moving from Communist Austria, watching a televised debate between JFK and Nixon, and how much JFK reminded him of the commie leaders back home! But Nixon gave him his love of America back, because Nixon was all about “real American values”. At a Kennedy function, people. Gave me a whole new respect for the man that I had lost around the “Last Action Hero” era.

The issue is that as celebrity and former governor, Arnold is a role model to adults and kids. When he gets caught he sends a message to everyone. People, perhaps wrongly, connect his personal life to his professional life. From this people feel cheated and wonder what ELSE has he done professionally that we don’t know about. It is a personal matter, but when you are the (former)leader of the whole state of California it is so much more. If Shriver knew then shame on her, but I really don’t believe she did. Some one called her “obtuse” and I say you obviously don’t work in psychology. You might as well ask how a father can molest his daughter for years in a small family and the mother never finds out. And yes, calling Shriver obtuse is blaming her. You should be less obtuse yourself and see that.
