What is amazing is that within nine months of Platoon, two other Viet Nam war movies were released – Hamburger Hill and Full Metal Jacket. The movies did ok, but neither did as well as Platoon at the box office or in the awards arena.
Platoon is an unintentional comedy to anybody with any basic tastes in film. The acting, dialouge, plot is as bad as it gets.Full metal Jacket just keeps getting better and better with each viewing.
Disagree totally.
Platoon is great, Full Metal Jacket is good (and more a satire, over-the-top made by the genius Stanley Kubrick). I think i have better tastes than you. Actually i am sure. Ha.
I called a buddy and sports anchor in DC, the late Glenn Brenner, who had just seen “Platoon” and had been in Vietnam and the movie had brought up some harrowing memories. He was all messed up and had talked to his daughter for the 1st time about “what it had been like” for him. We had a deep comradeship and he was happy that I had reached out when he needed support. We both loved your movie even though it woke up some “sleeping dogs”.
Thank you Oliver..It was a perfect vision you shared & one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time!!! POWERFULL & SO MOVING !!
Platoon for me, shows, the ground level essence of war. I continue to find the film iconic in its expression of the war zone, from all facets, if you have been there you will know, if you haven’t, this is as close as you can get…
I was recalling Peter Weller (RoboCop 1 & 2) & Samuel L. Jackson (Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction) working with Oliver Stone, the producer of The New Age.
I’ve watched this film over and over and it just gets better.
STILL WAITING for Stone to break Hollywood Left
ranks, do an about face, come forward and speak
out about Hollywood’s cross the boards BURYING
of ALLLLLLL consciousness of the RED Chinese
Halocaust —the Globalist RED China sellout and
TREASON OP —and, most fierce —EUGENICS…
As far as I am concern, this is my favorite all-time movie, directed by my all-time director and starred by my all-time actor. The movie has a powerful philosophical message to me, in essence, every war is fought within ourselves first, between good and evil, then in the batlefield. It’s a tragedy when a war is not fought and won within ourselves. Thank you Oliver Stone for your masterpiece and thank you Charlie Sheen for truly delivering such a powerful messsage.
Oliver Stone has BALKED all address, all
treatment, all mention of the yet unfolding
Globalist-RED Chinese world TREASON
and EUGENICS OP.
—Can someone say ‘——CAP—-Stone’?
–THANKS!
I see. We’ll like I said names arbitrary. Not that I want you to worry but whats are your opiionns on the fema camps and haarping?Btw’s, check out the rick clay interview if you haven’t. I think that stadium itself is important. If im not out of my mind (and i hope i am) this is more serious than most think and apathy’s gonna get us all killed. O well.
