Apparently, if you have a family-oriented movie starring a troupe of downy creatures beloved by twenty- and thirtysomethings nationwide from their childhoods, you gotta start putting out parody trailers. The Muppets have this model down cold, but that didn’t stop the folks behind Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Thresqueakquel Chipwrecked (out at Christmas) from launching their promo campaign by spoofing the second-highest grossing film of all time — which makes sense, given the plot hinted by the title. This is kind of risky, I’m sure many people were pissed off during this trailer. Especially for people who are looking forward to Titanic 3D.

This isn’t a spoof trailer. I worked on the film and the Chipmunks are on a cruiseship and get stranded on a tropical island.

Hell yes! I am proud of a franchise 2nd to GODZILLA. No matter what junk you badmouth them with. They come back for more! If you don’t like it. Don’t watch it! No one is forcing us to watch your junk either. Oh I forget. You don’t make anything… You complain!
Seriously Andy, I did carentry work for Dark Knight and that movie’s actually GOOD but I still don’t go around advertising it (Guess I just did but I’m proving a point!)… I’d never tell a soul if I worked on this garbage!
