Jennifer Lopez has joined Cameron Diaz in Lionsgate’s adaptation of What To Expect When You’re Expecting. The American Idol star will play Holly, a woman who adopts a baby from abroad with her husband after difficulty conceiving, in one of the four interweaving tales that will make up the ensemble film, à la Love Actually.

Based on the best-selling book by Heidi Murkoff, the movie will be directed by Kirk Jones (Waking Ned Devine). The film is scheduled for release on Mother’s Day weekend in 2012.

The American version of Love Actually will never happen. Hollywood needs to get over it.

  • Benita Lee

    Expect another box office flop.

  • Bernadette

Didn’t realize she was a-list movie star I think she is very cheesy just like her music good movies just have to pick a good actress

    Diaz + Lopez = FLOP

  • Lauren

Cam she just stop acting? The reality is, Jennifer, you can’t act. That’s why your movies never work. You can’t sing. That’s why you need Auto Tuning. How about you just stick to judging American Idol?

    • @Lauren

Lauren must be a fat, ugly hag who loves to read Star magazine and pick apart celebrities who are beautiful, successful and wealthy, while sitting on her doublewide eating cheetos, drinking PBR and tending to her 6 cats.

        ^^^Lmao!!! And she can’t spell

I agree Lauren. The only thing she does exceptionally well is dance. She has no charisma as far as acting and whatever she calls her singing.

I agree, she should stop trying ot act and trying to sing and just concentrate on being on the sidelines and judging others. She is not 1/2 as talented as she thinks she is. The only think I ever liked to see was her dancing, either than that, she had her time in the sun, but she’s just not talented enough as she heads towards 50 and needs to change directions.

Good God, EW, proofread!! “The American Idol star Lopez…”? “Based the best-selling book…??

  • brandi

You’ve got to be kidding me! This is the dumbest idea for a movie/book adaption I have ever heard!

    • Marianna

That was my first thought out of the gate too. Are you kidding me? Maybe next they can make a movie out of Bob Vila and teach us all how to stain a deck.

  • jen

um… it’s not so much a la “love actually” so much that it’s a la “valentine’s day,” but with babies. don’t insult “love actually” by comparing it to this drivel.

either way, it’ll probably suck and i probably won’t watch it.

  • Jill

I guess if I had to pick, I’d rather Lopez act than sing. Movies are much easier to avoid than mass market pop.

  • Jane

Would someone please inform Lopez her acting career peaked with ‘Out of Sight.’

  • Amy

Wow Jennifer Lopez in a movie means I will automatically not see it.

She’s as bad as Katie Holmes and Jessica Alba.

Good for her, but why does this get it’s own article?
