Anyone who watched Jon Favreau’s old IFC show Dinner For Five knows that the actor-turned-screenwriter-turned-blockbuster-director is also a deft interviewer of his famous colleagues and friends. That is certainly the case when Favreau sat down to talk with one of the stars of his latest film, Cowboys & Aliens, Harrison Ford. The Star Wars and Indiana Jones legend is a notoriously tricky interview, but Favreau coaxes some choice moments from his star, including why Ford was not initially keen to sign on for the western sci-fi, what kind of movie might have happened if Ford and costar Daniel Craig had both wore leather chaps in the film, and which Oscar-winning actor almost played Han Solo. Also a bonus: Favreau gives one of the most thoughtful arguments for not shooting an action movie in 3-D I’ve ever heard.
Check out clips from the interview below:Â
“No ball left un-busted.” “That’s my motto.”

This is gonna suck.
at least ppl got work from it
you’re an idiot
…moron.
You wallow in crap.
Did anyone notice the jab at Crystal Skull in the “Human Scale” video when Harrison talks about CGI ants and how the audience loses the human element when you have an over-reliance on CGI. He seems to understand it was a bad movie.
Harrison Ford is still hot.
the trailers look weak. and harrison didn’t age quite as badass as connery… shame.
I’ve never seen Harrison Ford this personable in an interview before. He actually comes across as very engaging and not aloof as in most interviews.
I’ve always enjoyed Ford as an actor, but I have to admit that I sometimes get tired of hearing him bust on Star Wars and Lucas and just the sci-fi genre as a whole. Guess what, pal — without Star Wars, you’d still be hanging doors. “I love you.” “I know.” Good line, yes. Let’s not act like you saved the picture though, okay? Sad to say he’s not aging as gracefully as Connery or Eastwood, either looks-wise (that haircut is the best you could do after years pulling down $20M per film?) or in terms of his persona. Still feels like he’s on the tail end of the mid-life crisis that started with the earring.
i love old man harrison ford.
This is the summer movie I have been waiting for. This is the popcorn movie that is for the summer….not Transformers with robots filmed completely out of scale from the film itself that carry no expression on their faces and other than 2 robots can not be deciphered from one another.
Bring me Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde and “Cowboys & Aliens.”
I think the movie will have some plot holes, but should be entertaining.
had both _worn_ leather chaps
Really enjoyed those snippets
