Jennifer Aniston on her 'Horrible Bosses' character: 'I never get that kind of fun stuff'

There's certainly much to enjoy in Horrible Bosses, directed by Seth Gordon (read Lisa Schwarzbaum's review here), the funniest workplace revenge comedy to come along since 9 to 5. But perhaps the most unexpected pleasure is seeing Jennifer Aniston play a predatory, filthy-mouthed dentist who delights in sexually harassing her assistant (played by Charlie Day). "I had such a great time doing it. It was ridiculous fun," Aniston tells EW. "I never get that kind of fun stuff. It was great! You do tend to get locked into parts that you play, you know what I mean?  People forget that there are other parts in there. That's what I love about Seth Gordon -- someone with imagination. You just have to have the balls to let people try [other kinds of roles]

.”

Which is not to say it was always easy to keep a straight face. Take, for example, the scene where Aniston seductively eats a popsicle, banana and hot dog in front of a window (for the benefit of Jason Sudeikis’s spying character). ” That one was a little like… okay, let’s get this one over with,” she laughs. “It was just… my mom! My dad! What are they going to do?

As for her co-stars, close friend (“one of my favorite people”) Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day, Aniston calls them the modern-day Three Stooges. “Talk about chemistry between three guys… I just root for them. They’re so fun to watch.” She recalls her first day of filming with Charlie Day. “God bless him, it was like, ‘Hi, nice to meet you… aaaaand I’m naked and going to straddle you,’ ” she laughs. “He couldn’t have been more adorable or sweet.”

Love this post. And yep love men, too! But haven’t been able to find the right man who wanted the same tghnis I wanted at the same time and then time slipped away and *poof* I was 35 and hearing that clock and worried about missing the greatest thing in my life. And yep still have many wonderful men in my and my son’s life. My father is still here and we have always had a great relationship. There’s my brother who I’m close to and I have several brother-in-laws. There’s also several good friends who are “uncles” to my son, and have promised to introduce him to their passion of hockey when he’s old enough (they just made me promise to pay for the equipment!)And yep still haven’t given up that there’s the right man out there for me (and my son). I just need more time to find him

Now I know where the reporter at ABCNews.com came up with the Three Stooges comparison. It figures, one airhead says something and apparently another one just picks it up and runs with it. Three Stooges my butt!

  • dear Bob,

Jennifer Aniston – all the money she makes for being in bland movie after bland forgettable movie? Can’t anyone in Hollywood hand her a script? Was it part of her divorce agreement with Brad, who she can never stop talking about, that she continue to be given roles in boring rom-coms that should clearly be given to much younger, much more likable stars, who with their talent, which she lacks, would bring the movie to a level that is watchable? Jennifer Aniston will never have: an Oscar nominated movie, a child, a day when she doesn’t bellyache about a show that ended years ago and a marriage that ended about the same time. Therapy, Jen, you can afford it!

      1. She did not mention Friends in this interview.
      2. She did not mention Brad in this interview.
      3. She did not mention children in this interview.
      4. She did mention enjoying playing someone out of character.
      5. Someone did hand her a script and she took the role in a movie that is getting very good reviews.
      6. And for the love of all that’s holy, I HOPE you aren’t referring to someone like Kristin Stewart as a “much younger, much more likable star” that has more talent that Jennifer Aniston!

      • m1

Agreed. Her responses were very interesting to read and I am looking forward to catching Horrible Bosses as well. As for the Kristen Stewart argument, Aniston is obviously better, but I keep getting the feeling that Stewart could be solid in a comedy as well.

    • Kevin

if you’re referring to the James Lipton interview then I ask you what you were expecting her to talk about in an interview designed to address her entire career? Ignore the behemoth sitcom that garnered her an Emmy and notoriety? I’m guessing if she didn’t address it you would b*tch about that too.

Haha, I love reading comments of people who hate on Jennifer Anniston. I’m not that big of a fan (though I loved her as Rachel) but here’s a woman who has never said a bad word about a project or her costar and is universally loved by those whom she worked with. Yet they all just hate her inexplicably. Though it is fun to read their comments.

    • Kevin

Agreed, everyone who seems to ACTUALLY know her seems to be smitten. Here, she acknowledges the fact that she has been pigeonholed, and embraces a different kind of movie and they still continue to bash her. She will never do right in these people’s eyes.

      • Sarah

True. She really just can’t win.

      • brad pitt’s lawyer

we hate her boring, stupido rom-coms. not her personally.

      • Sigh…

It’s sad how the haters have nothing else to do in their lives but troll the internet spreading venon anonymously. So sad.

      • Sigh…

        *venom*

      • brad pitt’s lawyer

we have plenty of other things to do in our wonderful lives. this is merely an occasional, enjoyable pastime.

    • ceecee

I don’t think people really “hate” her, I think people are just sick of her,her playing the victim card, her constant magazine covers about Brad and on and on. True it’s not her fault it’s mostly the media’s but imo it’s because that’s the only thing interesting about her. Her marriage to Brad Pitt.

  • look,

Jennifer Aniston is boring in every movie and in person always looks unhappy and sad, she’s just boring; I would like to make $30 million a year and bellyache about being pidgeonholed, get over yourself, Jen

    • Kelly

“Get over yourself, Jen?” You do realize that Jennifer Aniston doesn’t actually *write* these constant articles about herself, right? She made a comment about her CAREER. And if she’s photographed a bajillion times a day, and you’re a blogger, and you want to perpetuate the running story about her (as you said, “unhappy and sad”), are you going to run happy-looking pictures?

    • Kelly

PS – not implying that the OP is a blogger. Stories about Jennifer Aniston being unhappy and sad are constant on the celebrity blogs, which, gross as it is, is where most people who comment on her negatively, get their “news” … fact is, only Jennifer knows how happy she is.

  • Person

She seems like a genuinely nice person. True, she has been in some stinkers (I was going to kill myself during The Bounty Hunter) but I don’t see why people hate her so much. My favorite part of Horrible Bosses (which was definitely not horrible, I really enjoyed it) was seeing her break out of her typical role. Guys, leave her alone, she’s never said anything bad about you, or anyone.

  • Kate

If you hate Jennifer Anniston, please don’t read any article about her. Save your blood pressure, time, and other people’s blood pressure, etc. The posts bashing her are 10 times more annoying than any article about her romcoms or Brad. If you insist on bashing her because you have nothing better to do with your life, please at least read the article first and post a comment that is relevant.

  • Two Headed Sex Beast

Say hello to LUMBERGH FOR ME!!!

  • if I want an actress in my face every other month

touting her latest movie, at least make it good, not boring, not the same as the last one, not bland, I just do not see why so many people make such a fuss over such a talentless person

  • Mary

Is she pregnant??? She needs man and want baby…

  • T

Jennifer Aniston is great and super-HOT in “Horrible Bosses” and so funny !
