Edward Norton is in the final stages of talks to foil Jeremy Renner in The Bourne Legacy, reports Variety. Helmed by Tony Gilroy, scribe of the previous three Bourne films, the spin-off will also star Rachel Weisz. Though all involved have been tight-lipped, it’s believed the pic will not feature Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne in any capacity. Instead, Renner will play a fellow assassin trained in the fictive CIA’s Operation Treadstone, with Norton as his nemesis.
This will be Norton’s first turn in a high-profile action movie since 2008′s The Incredible Hulk, which received mixed reviews. Norton, whose reps joined Legacy production company Universal in refusing to comment on the negotiations, is currently filming Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom with Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, and Owen Wilson.

I so wish he was staying on for “The Avengers.” No matter how good the movie is, there will be empty hole without Norton as Bruce Banner.

I also dont think Eric Bana was too bad, either. The movie just sucked… mostly because of Nolte
I, too, am a big Norton fan, but the last movie performance he gave that was truly awesome was 25th HOUR way back in 2002. Plus, I keep hearing he’s a pain in the butt for directors and costars, which is why he lost the Hulk gig to start with. I still dig the guy, but I hope he gets his ego in check again soon, if the rumors are true.

Yeah that part makes no sense. How can you have a Bourne movie without a Bourne? If that’s the case titling the movie “Bourne Legacy” is just a bunch of studio crap to try and trick people into going.

Maybe Bourne died and Renner and Norton are named in his will. He leaves all his stuff to Renner and Norton schemes for a cut of Bourne’s possessions. The whole thing plays out like MAD’s SPY VS SPY.
Awful. Just have Renner as Bourne. In the books, they did have other former Treadstone operatives, but they were evil. But wait, when have these movies had anything to do with the books?

He is apparently doing both, which I think is just stupid. The 2 movies are that far apart content wise so it just weird to be in both.
Yeah, that’s a weird choice by him. It would be hard to pass up on two franchises like that though. I guess he’s covering his @$$ in the likelyhood one doesn’t make it past the next film.

I have always loved Ed Norton’s work American History X , Stone ,the 25th Hour , Leaves of Grass ? He is an excellent actor .

If you have ever read the book, you would know that David Webb (aka Jason Bourne) is the primary character in the story line. Naming it after the book is disgraceful, wihtout even portraying the main character, and I do not plan to watch it. Get real!
