The widely sold-out midnight showings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2 are only a day away, and with Potter-mania at an all-time high, Warner Bros. decided it was due time to further explore the story of the series’ most ambiguously motivated character. As director David Yates says, the line between good and bad is often more complex than it appears, and no one straddles this line better than the seemingly sinister Professor-turned-Headmaster Severus Snape. Before you stand in line for the sure to be tearful goodbye, be sure to check out this three minute look into the background of this seriously haunting character. Warning: SPOILERS ABOUND!Â
The video features interviews from J.K. Rowling and various Potter actors including Alan Rickman, Emma Watson, and Daniel Radcliffe, as well as a few short clips from past Potter installments that all lead up to the big question — what are the actual motives of the man who killed Dumbledore? We also see some brief snippets from Deathly Hallows — Part 2, so definitely avoid if you aren’t into the whole spoiler thing.

Snape is my all time favorite character, I can’t wait to see his story done justice in Part 2!
I absolutely agree! Love me some Severus Snape!. Be warned – below there are some spoilers so stop reading here if you haven’t read the books.
I agree let Snape get all the credit he deseveres!
I second Your comment!
Snape is honestly one of the most important and awesome characters in book/movie history. The Prince’s Tale chapter was simply amazing, it also helps that Alan Rickman was born to play him
Snape does redeem himself in the end, but it will be interesting to see how consistant that scene is with what is protrayed in the book. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I am lucky enough to get to go to an early showing tomorrow at 8:00pm! Tomorrow evening can’t come too soon.
His flashbacks as a child with Harry’s mother in the books were heartbreaking and he will forever be one of my favorite characters. What he did was unexpected and incredibly difficult to keep a secret for as long as he did.
While he ultimately may have been redeemed, let’s not excuse his treatment of Harry for the better part of 7 years. He went out of his way to be vindictive and spiteful over a grudge (somewhat justified) towards James. Harry is not James, and in many ways is a much better man.
I love Snape’s reveal, but I can’t justify his longstanding childish spitefullness. Rowling does a fantastic job of making her character’s all flawed.
Rowling’s response to that is: There are all sorts of lessons in life… Horrible teachers like Snape are one of them.
Ok, is anyone else thinking….”DUH”? Right after he did the very bad thing in book six, I turned the page and thought, “psh, he’s still good.”
His loyalties were not surprising/a mystery at all. You just have to trust Dumbledore, people!
I love professor snake. he’s my favorite hogwartian.
Snape is by far the most complex and compiling Potter character in the whole series!
I stood by him sense book one and some thing about Snape made me just trust him, as of all us brave
Snape fans who stood by this Character played by the brilliant Alan Rickman! Thumbs up if you think Alan’s going to give the best performance in this film! I just like Snape and will ALWAYS, stand by my favorite character!
