'Glee: The 3D Concert Movie' trailer: 'This thing sucks,' says Sue Sylvester

Tags: , , , TV

Glee: The 3D Concert Movie sounds like an intelligently designed jumble of words compiled by aliens to lure in anyone with a pulse. (“The,” especially, is so compelling.) But no, that’s the title and it does make sense! What better way to make the most of Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, and best actor Emmy nominee Chris Colfer while Glee still has ‘em than a 3-D feature? The just-released movie trailer is heavy on Harry Shum’s abs and light on Finn footage. That’s usually for the best. Check it out below:

    All I can say is:
    WHY?

    • Hannah

Hah! What I’m looking forward to the most is watching Finn dance in 3D! Cory Monteith is adorable!

Any chance to see Heather Morris doing anything is why enough. Supporting Actress Emmy, please….

    Cash grab, obviously.

Glee reminds me of when the Brady Bunch kids tried to be musicians and they released albums and had concerts and were just everywhere. It was annoying then it’s annoying now. I think Glee has forgotten that it is a tv show first. They just throw random songs in that don’t really mash into the episodes but people lap it up so they continue to ruin the show with ill timed ill placed musical numbers. Hopefully the new writers will get them back on track and they can tone down all the uber obivous money grabs.

I completely agree. I enjoyed the show when it wasn’t trying so hard to make money or do big production numbers. The difference was what made is special. Hopefully Season 3 will get back to that.

I really like Glee but don’t see the appeal of this. Sure, it would be a little fun to see the actors interact backstage. But, otherwise, they pretty much just recreate the performances from the TV shows what most fans have already seen for free. Frankly, the big-group musical numbers are sometimes the weakest part of the show.

Wow, talk about a completely soulless cash grab.

  • Anna

Thanks Sue. I shall be taking your advice.

  • Jenna

I’m taking here advice too. Actually, I’d rather watch The Glee Project than that…However, I admit, Don’t Stop will always catch me!

  • Emma

    Sue said it!

I hope this thing bombs beyond believe and Glee retreats into a dark corner

As a Glee fan, I can honestly say that, after the season they just had, they lost the right to say “This thing sucks” ironically.

    • Will

      Agreed

  • KiKiD

I bet it does okay in SF, West H’wood etc..else where…nope…

I’m actually really excited for this. I went to the concert in June and it was the best concert I’ve ever been to. The stage show, vocals, choreography and little touches (like Sue’s video intros) made the show an epic experience. Can’t wait to relive it.

    • Amy

      Ryan Murphy, is that you?

      • Captain

What? I’m not allowed to be a fan? Because you don’t like Glee or don’t get why there’s a concert movie, I can’t be excited for it? Keep going through life with that maturity, it will take you far.

      • Amy

Captain: I used to be a Glee fan. But this past season, my enthusiasm for this shown waned. In my previous post, I was being sarcastic. I’m sorry if that did not come through; either way, there is no need to attack me.

  • Amy

I was curious what the Gleek sneak preview entailed (perhaps free tickets, since that’s the only way I would see this). Instead, it’s $30 for a ticket and a bunch of Glee fan paraphenalia.

  • Ryan

that Sue clip needs to a part of every terrible movie trailer like Jack and Jill.

  • Gazza

    The Situasian in 3D?

    *lapses into deep thought*

  • Wynter

Except for the soloists, the big group numbers are lip-synced anyway. For example, when has “Don’t Stop Believin” EVER sounded different in the beginning? Even when the group was half this size?
