Bradley Cooper might have the face of an angel, but he’s set to star as the devil himself in director Alex Proyas’ adaptation of John Milton’s Paradise Lost, according to a spokesperson for Legendary Pictures. The Associated Press previously reported that the film would be shot in Sydney, Australia and targeted for a 2013 release.
Milton’s Paradise Lost, an epic poem published in 1667, tells the story of a charismatic Lucifer, who leads a failed rebellion against God and is subsequently banished from heaven.

Bradley Cooper speaks French. The Internet swoons.

No it doesn’t. Re-check Wikipedia, Jeff Labrecque. It starts after he’s already been banished.
True, but the war in heaven is recounted in a later book.
This adaptation, from what they’ve said, it going to be all about the war in Heaven and not include any of the later stuff (because, among other things, depicting Adam and Eve would require an R-rating).
It’s a profoundly stupid idea for a film, because there’s absolutely no dramatic tension.
depicting Adam and Eve would require an R-rating). says who?
They had THE BIBLE in the late 1960s with A&E with no nudes
No dramatic tension? Have you ever read the poem? If you have, I would suggest you have not understood it at all…
Found it!
Richard is right, the poem is mainly about Adam and Eve and the fall of man in the Garden of Eden–brought about by Satan after he was banished–hence the title.
Hmmm. I wonder who will play Adam and Eve (mainly Adam).
Adam will be played by Charlie Sheen.
Nothing against Cooper but shouldn’t they give the role of a Satan to some one with superior acting ability? The only thing I remember Cooper for was the A Team, and the Hang Over FFS.
You never know, he might be good. Who would have thought Heath Ledger would have been so amazing as the Joker? And let’s not forget, the greatest film devil of all time was played by the great (but limited) Tim Curry in Legend.
Cooper’s no where in the same league as Curry.
But Heath Ledger was a good actor. Bradley Cooper, unfortunately, is not.
this adaptation sounds like a bad idea.
Adam and Eve? For a surprise, do a search: First Scandal.
Bradley Cooper and Alex Proyas involved in adapting one of the best epic poems of all time? That should be constituted as a crime.
Face of an angel? Phooey. Paint him red and he IS the devil!
Fantastic idea, I’m sure it’ll make a load of $$$. It should be rated R and include all the tempting stories and all the times God’s angels save Adam and Eve
