In what could be her sixth time collaborating with Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter is currently in talks to star in Disney’s upcoming adaptation of The Lone Ranger, according to the actress’ rep. If a deal is struck, Carter would play the madam of a local brothel. Also circling the Western are Dwight Yoakam (Sling Blade) and Barry Pepper (True Grit), according to a source close to the project. If cast, Yoakam would portray the film’s central villain — the gang leader Butch Cavendish — while Pepper would play Captain J. Fuller of the 7th Cavalry.
The 24-year-old Armie Hammer (The Social Network) has already been cast as the masked title character, while Depp will play the Lone Ranger’s Native American sidekick Tonto. Gore Verbinski, who directed Depp in Rango and the first three Pirates of the Caribbean flicks, is helming the film, and Jerry Bruckheimer is producing. Filming is slated to start this fall in Texas and New Mexico, with Disney planning to release the movie on Dec. 21, 2012.
Carter and Depp have previously worked together on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland, and are currently shooting Tim Burton’s horror drama Dark Shadows, which is also due next year.

They do seem to play well together. If they didn’t want to work with each other, they are certainly at the point in their careers they could say “no”. Maybe they enjoy working together on the same quirky types of projects and their agents pick up the same scripts. Or maybe they’ve told their agents that they want projects in which they can work together. BFFs always!

Johnny Depp is part Native American. Cherokee on his Mothers side.
Depp has some Cherokee or Creek Indian in his bloodline. Thats native enough for me.
Actually Johnny Depp IS Native American. Not fully but it’s there.

she didn’t do a good job of portraying the character to begin with. Didn’t capture Bellas ruthlessness. Maybe some of you were impressed with her walking around on loony pills acting crazy that way. But that is a far cry from Bellatrix Lestranges sadistic evil. Not impressed, however she was good in fight club and many other movies. She even did a good job as anne boleyn in a BBC special

Helena Bonham Carter is my favorite actress. It is true that she has done numerous collaborations with Johnny Depp. However, her work in films like Howard’s End, Fight Club, The King’s Speech, The Wings of the Dove and Sweeney Todd confirm that she is one of the most interesting and talented British actresses who is currently working.
She’s fantastic. Easily one of my favorite actresses. She’s so cool and quirky, and she livens up any movie she’s in. How does this woman not have an Oscar yet!?
According to an interview I read, Johnny Depp is the one who got this movie project going specifically because he admired Tonto growing up and thought he was short changed. He wanted to play Tonto and give him a much bigger role, so he pitched this movie himself. So what if he’s not native. The movie wouldn’t exist without him.

To anyone who says she only gets work because of Tim Burton, get your facts straight–she’s been working since 1983. She was nominated for an Oscar (which she should have won) three years before they met.

These are some great performances…
She’s brilliant, always has been. Her earleri work was her best, but I love everything she’s done since. I hate how people think she’s only done TB films and please get it right…THEY ARE NOT MARRIED! Bottom line, if she’s in, I’ll watch. If not…rubbish.
