Relativity Media has released an official Comic-Con teaser poster for Steven Soderbergh’s action-thriller Haywire, which stars mixed martial arts superstar Gina Carano (who you may remember as Crush from NBC’s 2008 American Gladiators reboot or the winner of EW’s filmed Office Gladiators competition). She performs her own stunts in the film, which has an impressive supporting male cast that includes Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, Bill Paxton, and Michael Angarano. See the bold poster below. Update: A trailer has also been released. Watch it below as well.

Per the synopsis:
Mallory Kane [Carano] is a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead by someone close to her in her own agency. Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive. Using her black-ops military training, she devises an ingenious — and dangerous — trap. But when things go haywire, Mallory realizes she’ll be killed in the blink of an eye unless she finds a way to turn the tables on her ruthless adversary.
The film hits theaters Jan. 20, 2012.

Can Steven Soderbergh make fighter Gina Carano the next great female action star?

It looks like a LIFE cereal box for some odd reason.
Sounds interesting anyway.
im definitely interested in this film. could gina carano be the next female action star we’ve all been waiting for? angelina can’t do it alone.
She’s 145 – hardly boney for a woman. But it’s boney and wimpy caopmred to the much larger (and supposedly elite-level) guys that Soderbergh wants us to believe she’s superior to. And that’s the point. When comparing fighters, if one is far smaller, wimpier, and boney-armed than the others, then it is correct to point that out. It’s irrelevant to say, well, she’s not boney armed for a girl, because she’s not just fighting with a bunch of small girls. She’s fighting a bunch of big guys, so they are the relevant reference point.
God I hope that’s Fassbender underneath her. In!
YES! Love the poster! Cannot wait for this film!
wow this girl can kick some butt . not happy that it looks like Fassbender dies way 2 soon 4 me.
