Normally, the phrase “Catch you later,” simply means, “See you soon.” But when it’s said by Jerry, the hunky neighborhood vampire played by Colin Farrell in Fright Night, it literally means, “I will catch you… later.”
In an exclusive sneak peek at the remake of the 1985 cult horror-comedy, Charlie (Anton Yelchin) challenges his blood-thirsty neighbor after a harrowing car-chase. Jerry isn’t pretending anymore — his fangs are out, his pupils are black — but Charlie, who’s clearly done his homework, wields a mighty big cross. “Not the cross, Charlie!” hisses Farrell. Watch their fiery confrontation after the jump.
Much like the original, this updated Fright Night, which opens this Friday in 3-D, feels like the vampire movie the boys have been waiting for. No epic romance, no self-loathing blood-suckers. Just pure predatory evil wrapped in dark humor. Of course, the ladies will be captivated, too -- by either Yelchin's earnest goodness, or more likely, Farrell's bite.

I’ve always wanted to see Colin Farrell and Christian Bale do another movie together after having no scenes together in The New World (2005). They are both incredible actors and it would be amazing to see them bounce off each other in a film.
Maybe they should make Brokeback Mountain 2 – Electric Cowboy Boogaloo. They could bounce off each other for ninety minutes in that one.
Colin Farrell is OK (better when playing Irish, though), Anton Yelchin is passable. I’m all about David Tennant. Where’s he in this article?
Tennant’s role has certainly been under played in all the previews… but it’s what I’m looking forward to the most!
will only be going becuase of David Tennant!
You really need to get out and get some fresh air, or read a book. Dr. Fruit will sink this film.
Farrell looks constipated. Or maybe worried. Maybe he’s worried about being constipated. He’ll never match the machismo of Chris Sarandon. Farrell looks like a thirteen year old vamp. We need real men for these rolls.
Exactly. Tennant is THE reason to see this movie!
No, Dr. Fruit is the reason to AVOID this movie. He singlehandedly destroyed a nearly 50 year old television franchise. No wonder it’s been cancelled.
I went mainly to see David Tennant too and I enjoyed his part and the rest of the movie as well.
can’t wait!!!
Hopefully once the movie is out, people will realize how great David Tennant is and he will start getting mentioned a lot more. I’ve been VERY disappointed with all the previews I’ve seen so far…he’s hardly in them!
For good reason!!! He’s a total fruit. I think he needs an appointment at Dr. Bachmann’s clinic!!!!
Vampires are gay. Get a hobby.
Colin has some big shoes to fill. Chris Sarandon was great in the original.
He was amazing! I was just re-watching the original for the first time in years and thinking that same thing. I think Farrell will do well. From interviews it sounds like Farrell is really respectful of the original and loved it, that he himself was reluctant to take part til he read the script. I also read an interview with Chris Sarandon over at io9.com and he said the new “Fright Night” was awesome and that it had several nods to the original. He seemed to love it.
Thank you for your kind words. I loved the role of Jerry.
Hey, I’m happy we’re getting back to REAL (haha) vampires in place of the stupid sparkly ones that everyone, including EW seems to just ADORE – judging by the number of covers and articles EW dedicates to Twilight – it’s why I’ve cancelled my subscription to EW until the last Twilight movie comes out. I hate Twilight and feel like I was subscribed to “Twilight Magazine”, not EW. Anyways… I’m super excited for this remake, much as I love the original. I want my vampires to be VAMPIRES. Not sparkly, emo pansies. I’m all about the David Tennant aspect of “Fright Night”. I know a fairly large number of ladies who are excited to see this purely because of him too! And hey, Colin Farrell isn’t bad to look at either.
Forget them. I want to see this movie for David Tennant!
This girl will be captivated by David Tennant. I don’t give a crap about Colin Farrell. Where’s the article on him, EW?!
I’m guessing the article didn’t mention David Tennant because he’s not in the clip.
I for one adore Anton Yelchin (since Charlie Bartlett), and look forward to seeing him in this film, as well as checking out Like Crazy later in the year.
It’s got that fruity Dr. Who in it. It’s going to flop and fail miserably at the box office. They should’ve left it well enough alone.
Saying stupid things more than once doesn’t make them any less stupid, Total Flop.
Not my fault Dr. Fruit is in it now, is it? He’s the kiss of death to every single thing on film and television.
I will be going to see this movie this weekend (however watching the original before I see the remake), but I am kind of getting tired of EW touting things as EXCLUSIVE. I didn’t see his fangs or hear any “hissing”. It’s a clip EW. That’s it.
I really loved the original — so funny and scary. And Chris Sarandon was just awesome. But I actually have high hopes for this. I think Colin Farrell has the right look and attitude, and I do like Anton Yelchin and Toni Colette. I think it will be good, or at least not bad.
Nobody even remembers who Chris Sarandon is and David Tennant is gay.
You forgot to place a u between the d and the m in your name.
His wife and child would be surprised to hear that.
It’s not his kid and they were never ever married in a church. Marriage of convenience and a fling for Dr. Fruit to be married to the daughter of a previous Dr. Fruit. He should take some notes from Anton, who is one of the stars of true legitimate sci-fi franchise. Star Trek.
Looking forward to this remake and hoping that it lives up to the original FN and are looking forward to seeing David Tennant.
Too bad that the others from the original FN film with the exception of Chris Sarandon, didn’t do a cameo in the film.
The original was awesome. Between that and Lost Boys, my two favorite campy vampire movies. I hope the remake is half as good.
