'Puss In Boots' just got 'most interesting'

How to make a Puss in Boots promo: 1) Clever satire; 2) a sultry “meow” in Antonio Banderas’ trademark baritone; 3) a screen shot of those adorable eyes.

Check, check and check.

But the latest clip for the DreamWorks spin-off goes further, taking a cue from those “Most interesting man in the world” Dos Equis commercials, and while it tells us nothing about the film’s actual plot, it hits the spot. Check it our after the jump.

You could argue that a fifth film from the Shrek universe is overkill, but if you’re going to isolate a character for a spin-off, the cocksure orange tabby is definitely the way to go. His introduction to Shrek 2 was probably the best creative decision the sequel planners ever made and, apparently, his hairballs are made from fine Italian lambs’ wool.

Does it make you feel like there’s room in your heart for another pussycat adventure, or does it just make you want to YouTube the Dos Equis commercials?

Puss has been the best part of the Shrek sequels. I just hope Donkey doesn’t make an appearance.

    • This crap looks dreadful

      Seriously? It MIGHT make $100M.

  • Templar

This should have happened a long time ago. Puss was the only character from that franchise that was truly appealing.

  • Templar

But let me add this: there’s no reason at all for this cat to be voiced by a Hispanic actor. If it was just a ploy to appeal to our growing illegal immigrant population, then shame on you hollywood! All things being equal, roles should go to americans first!

    • You’re an idiot

      ^^^ Bigoted, much? ^^^

      • Templar

The second post by “Templar” was not me. Insufferable people who have no imagination borrow someone’s handle to post outrageous remarks.

      • Templar

“Insufferable people who have no imagination” = Hollywood execs who hire Hispanics instead of Americans.

      • Templar

        WHAT’S HAPPENING TO MEEEEEEEEEEE??????!!!!!!

    • kim in kentucky

      ?????????? Who thinks this sh1t up ????

    • Stygian Scribe

Actually, Antonio Banderas is from Spain, so he is Spanish, not Hispanic (which refers to people of Spanish heritage from the Americas). Since fairy tales are European in origin, it would make sense that some character in that universe would be Spanish.

      • Templar

        SO he’s “Hispanish?”

    • zeldazen

Wow, you idiot. Originally Puss was supposed to be French, but when they got Antonio, who they realized embodied Puss in Boots, obviously he was changed to Spanish. So obviously the nationality doesn’t matter.. Roles should go to Americans first? You’re kidding right? The role should go to whoever is right for it, and whoever is the best man for the job, no matter what nationality he is. And Antonio was the best man for the job, period. Idiot close minded ass.. whatever your handle is.

  • kim in kentucky

LOVE the teaser and can’t wait for the movie. Puss is da man !!!

    • Templar

Kim, you must be that type of girl who plays “Who Let The Dogs Out” at 2am and laughs at movie previews when the animated duck farts and says: “let’s do this,” before breakdancing to “Can’t Touch This.”

YES! I knew it was YOU!

  • Templar

Honestly, I can’t believe I used the word “insufferable” in my last post. I just realized what a pretentious douche I really am. I’m sorry folks. My farts stink too.

    • Grubi

      Dude, grow up

    • Kevin

Templar the Imposter: shouldn’t you be in school right now? Summer’s over little boy, time for you to get back into the classroom and learn something… hopefully, respect.

    • Templar

Kevin, you need to shut the hell up.

      • Wow troll

Wow your a freaking idiot. Nothing better to do than steal someone’s name. You really should be in school, you need it alot right now.

  • James

Awesome! I may have to see this movie now (didn’t see Shrek 4).

  • Michael Jackman

I wish Antonio Banderas would do more American mainstream movies like he used to. Several of the movies that he has appeared in over recent years have not been released properly or gone straight to DVD such as Bordertown (2006), My Spy (2008), The Other Man (2008) and The Code (2009. Unfortunately only if is a Spy Kids or Shrek or Zorro film does it go to the cinema. It is a shame. He is an underrated actor.

    • Ana

That’s probably because TPTB can’t think of what to do with him because of the darker skin and accent. His most successful movies have been ones where he’s played a Mexican character. Hollywood casting agents aren’t known for thinking outside the box.

  • harry

    awesome!!!

  • i’m sorry, but

by definition, any film with Banderas is automatically bad.
