It’s been two years since Hugh Grant was last seen on the big screen, as the actor has, most notably, been leading the crusade against News of the World and their phone tapping scandal. Grant, who last appeared in 2009′s Did You Hear About the Morgans? and is slated to voice a character for the upcoming The Pirates! Band of Misfits, will also appear in the all-star adaptation of David Mitchell’s 2004 novel Cloud Atlas.

Warner Bros. confirmed Grant will join the likes of Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon, Jim Sturgess, and Ben Whishaw for the film. The movie, which Warner Bros. describes as “an epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution,” will be directed and written by Andy and Lana Wachowski (The Matrix) and Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run). The project will begin shooting this week.

I wish Hugh Grant would do more movies. He is an underrated actor. He pigeonholed himself as an actor who just did romantic comedies rather than try to reach his full potential as an actor.

Yeah, he let himself get stuck in romantic comedies. I liked him best in “About a Boy” when his character was uncomfortably forced to actually start caring for the awkward Marcus.

Delighted that Grant is on the project, but I wouldn’t call that an “All star cast” . Hanks, Sarandon and Berry, yes. The rest, B list at best. Still, it sounds interesting.

An unmarried 31 years old woman is cordnseied old girl’ by China’s standardIf she really want to be married and settled down with children, as quoted by her previous boyfriend, Hugh Grant is a definate no-noSounds like she want to be well-known for being the woman who has a child with a rich & famous playboy/bachelorBest of luck to the baby

Am a huge fan of the book. Wonder who he’s going to play…

Hugh Grant, eh. I’m most excited about Ben Whishaw, least excited by the Wachowski sibs. What exactly makes them qualified to tackle this story? Speed Racer?

excited to see a new movie option with a favorite of mine, Hugh Grant, but now that I’ve read the theme of the film, it won’t be one I’ll choose, Hugh Grant, or no Hugh Grant. So disappointing :(

Big Hugh Grant fan, glad he is finally doing movies again. Was hoping he was going to take the Two and a Half men gig, thought he would have been way better than Kutcher, but he is probably better off on the big screen.

I wonder if Lana Wachowski will be on Dancing With The Stars next season?

Miss Hugh and handsome, charming self!! Can’t wait to see the movie!

“Cloud Atlas” is an awesome book, but it is very much about the writing styles and genres. Even as I read it I tried to imagine it adapted as a film, and I don’t believe any scrpitwriter or director can capture the mysteries of the novel, and certainly not in a two-hour timespan. “The 1,000 Autums of Jacob de Zoet” , David Mitchell’s latest, on the other hand, is custom-made to be an epic historical film or mini-series.

I am so excited to hear about Hugh Grant being in Cloud Atlas..something different for him. And Jim Sturgess is also in Cloud Atlas and I don’t consider him a B list actor. He is great!

Want to see Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant do another movie together. Love Two Week Notice – they have great chemistry.
