Brad Pitt swears he didn't save any lives on the set of 'World War Z'

Brad Pitt needs you to know that he’s not some kind of hero—despite recent reports suggesting otherwise.

In the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, Brad Pitt responds to  claims that he rescued an extra on the set of upcoming zombie movie World War Z during an in-depth conversation on his life and career, the first in a series called The EW Interview.

Read an excerpt from the interview below:

EW: I just read about how you rescued an extra on the set. Congratulations on that.
BRAD PITT: I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Seriously? It was all over the Internet.
I make a point of not seeing that stuff.

An extra fell down and was going to get trampled, but you swooped in on a horse and it was very gallant.
On a horse? I haven’t been on a horse. There are no horses in the movie.

Okay, forget the horse—maybe I’m drunk. But you came and saved her somehow and it was very gallant.
That’s bulls—. Listen, when someone falls down, you’re going to help.

Honestly? If I were a movie star, I would send one of my assistants.
Listen, a lot of our scenes are with masses of people. We’ve had several scenes where people have fallen down.

Have you saved any lives at all?
I have not saved any lives, okay? People fall and twist ankles—the extras have really been giving it. And you don’t want people to get hurt. If I’m not the first one there, someone else is.

Not to take anything away from your rescue, but I think Kate Winslet saving Richard Branson’s mother was a little more heroic.
[Laughs] I did see that.

Hmm, he comes off as a bit of a jerk in this interview.

    • Handsome Smitty

It’s called modesty, a quality extremely lacking with many celebraties these days. You know, the ones whooping and hollering on TV, or spouting political liberal hyperbole. MODESTY – look it up.

Brad Pitt seems to be called alot of things these days. I wish people would put some focus on all the great things he has done to help people. He is a great humanitarian and has given alot of his time and money to help people all over the world including here at home. A good-looking guy with a big heart. I’ll take that.

      • Renjick

Oh dear. You’re not under the mistaken impression that Brad is anything but a political liberal are you? Oh dear oh dear the tears you’re going to have.

I enjoyed this interview; however, it ends rather abruptly especially given we were told it was a 3 hour interview. I was surprised to hear his negativity towards one of my favorite films, Legends of the Fall.BTW,I wanna share a good news to you.My best friend ,she just has announced her wedding with a millionaire man who is a celebrity !they met via

      I thought so too, Flip.

      • Roy Munson

He’s a jerk for correctly pointing out that he didn’t save anyone’s life?
        Whatever

      • Tim

He’s cool! He doesn’t care for the baggage of fan-worshipping hero. He’s content to be there to provide assist, no additional props needed. Kudos to him!

      • etm

Didn’t say he IS a jerk, just doesn’t come across so great in this brief interview.

      • DL

I don’t think he was being a jerk. Just insistent. The interviewer seemed determined to paint him as some kind of hero, and he didn’t want to be portrayed as such. “So, you saved somebody’s life, right?” “Nope.” “Maybe I heard wrong… But you still saved somebody’s life, right?” “Really, I didn’t.” “Gotcha. Now tell me about how you saved that extra’s life.” “I didn’t save anybody, dammit!” Wouldn’t you get frustrated?

    • DFSF

He is demonstrating the same modesty and humility he has throughout his career. Pretty impressive for a big-hearted humanitarian who just happens to be one of our finest actors. And gorgeous on top of all that.

Is Flip a girl? Because I swear to god girls try to assign all kinds of emotions to typed words. This is why I don’t text my girlfriend.

      • Steve

        Haha
        Me texting: Hi
My girlfriend: WHY ARE U MAD??!

      • etm

I am a girl and have been told I’m too sensitive :)

    • Brady

Interviewer needs to stop putting Pitt on a pedestal. You can tell that Pitt doesn’t care for it. Just back off with the hero worship and conduct a civil interview with Pitt and you won’t come off as a pest.

    • Lola

To be fair, maybe Flip is commenting on the whole interview where there are times when Mr. Pitt can come off as a bit of a jerk.

    • deedeedragons

Why do all the ‘woe is me’ Jen supporters remind me of lemmings?

      • Yorky

Cause’ people wanna see them run off a cliff LOL!

    • ryan

He does not come off as a jerk, he is simply a humble guy! He is not going to take credit for a rumor someone pulled from their rear end! Most people have this sense famous actors are superhuman, superior to normal people and put up on a pedestal. They are no better then you and I, they are good at there jobs, obviously better at their jobs then relationships. If I had a choice to be famous and make millions I would decline it and run for the hills. Your being judged by the hole world off of bad rumors and hearsay, admire them for there acting not there home life.

  • anonymous

EW, you are really pushing the Brad interview. A bit of overkill if you ask me.

  • Strepsi

This was a funny interview, thanks. I think Brad is being modest, but he has to be so careful, if he said ‘yeah I did that” he’d be accused of arrogance.

I don’t think many of us can even imagine having our every public utterance become front page gossip and parsed for DAYS on end by lunatics.

But promoting his movies is part of the job, and I think he generally does well…

  • ewbaby

I read that his partner, Angelina Jolie, plagiarized her script for her upcoming movie from a book entitled “The Soul Shattering”. He has money invested in that movie.

  • Dollbaby

I heard that too!! How true is that? I’m not inclined to believe that type of thing. It sounds like a rumor started by her haters.

  • Apos

Well THAT was an exciting excerpt. *Yawn*

  • pam

I loved the interview….modest, funny and self-deprecating. He’s also easy on the eyes.

  • p

I can’t believe some people are criticizing this men for stating his feeling about what happened . All he was saying is ,he’s no hero anybody else could have helped this extra . If he was full of himself like some actors he would brag about it but he’s not . The same way Ryan Gosling helped in the street that day , i don’t see people calling him a jerk his answer was similar .. It’s the reporter that’s making a big deal about it and also internet bloggers , normal people help others all the time , it’s really no big deal !

Legends of the Fall is the best movie Pitt has ever done…it made him…along with A River Runs Through It. He kinda comes off as a jerk in the interview…but then again, he probably is a jerk…just another goofy Hollyweird actor with an inflated opinion of himself.

I’m Female, 22, and just this Christmas had a brief encounter with a mature man. It was wonderful. We

met via internet dating on this site: SeekSugarDad.C óM- a good way to meet like-minded people, and he

actually approached me first. It just so happens I like older man and he likes woman around my age. We

had an amazing day and later on he joined me at a hotel. It was like a fantasy come true. Amazing

company, amazing sex too and a really warm and loving man. He will turn 36 this month, and my goodness

what a connection we had that day.——–

I can’t wait to see the his movies-say what you will but Brad is a great actor. And, its refreshing to see him in the role he loves so much-that of a father to his family of six and the relationship with his loving partner Angelina. Too bad there are so many haters out there who are still living in the past. I’m sure Jennifer Aniston moved on long ago and so should her fans.
