'Lorax' poster: Orange you glad it's not another 'Garfield' movie?

Universal has a released the first poster of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, and it certainly is… whisker-y. In the 3-D animated adventure based on Seuss’ 1971 book, Danny DeVito plays the title character, and Zac Efron plays a wide-eyed young boy named Ted who is trying to win over the girl of his dreams (Taylor Swift). To do so, he must join the grumpy Lorax in speaking out against greedy villain The Once-ler (Ed Helms), who is damaging the environment. Betty White and Rob Riggle have also voice parts in film, which opens in theaters March 2, 2012. Check out the poster below:

About time Wilford Brimley got his own CGI feature.

    • Kat

I’m pretty sure that’s one of the best comments. Ever.

This isn’t the Lorax I remember
    Was the original so bad?
    Why did they change it?
was there not enough story to be had?
    Dr Seuss’s was perfection
    a narrative with direction
    a purposeful poet
with soul, don’t you know it?
    My inner child is crying
    but there is no denying
my little boy will still want to go…

      Clever

@ :( , That was freakin’ awesome. Totally true though, I’ll be stuck taking my son to see it.

    • chris

I will stick with the book.

  • Jen

The poster is cute, but it makes it look like the story of the Lorax is happy, when it is actually really depressing. I can already tell that they destroyed Dr. Seuss’ story

  • Dorkus

THE RENT IS TOO DAMN HIGH!

    • Julius

LMAO he does remind me if him! But nevertheless, will be there opening night. I love me some Dr. Seuss!

  • amy

    Hey, I like Garfield!

  • Kvinna

    Ugh.
    Kids, read your books instead.

  • Rachel

I love reading Lorax as a kid. I hope movie doesn’t just dumb it down.

“a wide-eyed young boy named Ted who is trying to win over the girl of his dreams”

Clearly the dumb ship is in full sail.

Oh Hollywood, not everything needs a love story.

  • Almar

Glad Danny Devito is the title character, hope he brings some frank reynolds-ness to it.

    • Dave

Hopefully not too much Frank Reynolds-ness. We don’t need the Lorax leaving mysterious poops everywhere, or drinking wine out of Coke cans, or playing Nightcrawlers. Lol.

As long as it doesn’t star Jim Carrey or Mike Myers, they’ve done enough damage to the Seuss franchise.

    • AV

I thought jim carrey did a great job voicing horton in horton hears a who.

      • Ralphie

Agree! Horton was adorable and well done, faithful to the story. It’s the live-action Seuss crap that they screw up.

      • deedee

Horton was the best thing Carrey has done in years.

    • Zeba

I agree. They need to stop ruining these classics. The Lorax is my all time favorite. I shudder to think what they’ve done to this one.

  • BobDecker

    The Lorax pooped the bed!

  • lisa ely

Did the movie producers even read the book?
